Never buy from 13betc.com
As the title says, this is a notice for everyone. I have an 87 rx7 with a broken wiper switch. I bought a service from this website and i have to say it is probably one of the biggest mistakes I've ever made. I bought it back in November and not only did the guy botch the job, and i know he did because i sent the switch to a mazda certified electrician that loves working on rx7's, he lied to my face, saying that it was "tested and working" im still trying to get a refund.
Once again, this is a notice and a word of warning for anyone who is thinking of giving money to this guy. |

Once again, this is a notice and a word of warning for anyone who is thinking of giving money to this guy. I have bought off him before and the switches have worked perfectly since last year. Maybe it was defective or broke on the way back but either way A+ seller for me. Did you contact him before going to a Mazda guy ? |
I have ordered two things from him and have been fine, The only issue I had was confirmation of order. Status showed pending and Email response was very slow, but I did receive my product in good working order. Im actually thinking about getting a warning light cluster from him.

the switches really are a pain and why i didn't get into them on a large scale service like they did, because it requires having a test vehicle torn down that you can plug in to verify that your repair is working. in fact my personal car is still semi torn apart from the switches i sold more recently.
i've seen many issues inside the switches, simply replacing the relays only fixes the issues about maybe 75% of the time. so if you don't check your work, you're likely to have a 1 in 4 comeback rate, which is unacceptable. i have a box of irrepairable switch circuit boards, because they are too time consuming to even diagnose, fix and make a profit. however, with the wiper circuit there is more than just the switch that can fail, so i hope you tested your own end as well. there is a ground loop through the park circuit on the wiper motor that must be serviced periodically. |

If OP is going to bad mouth someone or ruin their reputation, I hope they're sure of what they're talking about. Put yourself in the other guy's shoes. OP, have you tried to bring up and resolve the issue? At least work out something to have him double check it, like shipping the item back. |
I doubt anyone will take a 4 poster noobs slander on a vendor we have all purchased from with good results. Maybe the OP should communicate with the supposed offender. He probably only joined the forum to slander others.
|
or it could have some validity, but this isn't the subforum for it anyways. just about every company has done bad things to customers at some point, the question is, is it actually valid? is it going to be remedied? and is it going to be a recurring problem?

theres a few things that can get in the way of your headlight switch not working, start with the bulbs Icemark had posted about and work your way through the grounds, and then inspect your switch harness, then your switch, cluster bulbs, blast some connector cleaner with some air, then it should work.
While we're on the subject has anyone done Icemark's [headlight switch harness] relay mod? |
I've purchased from this vendor before with no problems.

To the OP: I too have done business with 13betc, aka Curtis, on several occasions and the service provided was exceptional. Perhaps you could be more descriptive about your story: what sort of troubleshooting steps and references did you use to determine the switch was bad? Other than bashing this vendor, your circumstances are not properly explained. Additionally, if you know of a Mazda certified electrician who loves working on RX-7s then why didn't you use him first? FWIW, I've never heard of a Mazda certified electrician. Their technicians are trained to replace bad components, not repair them. Hence, a certified Mazda Tech would troubleshoot a windshield wiper problem down to a switch (or other component) then replace it, verify it's complete, then return the car to its owner. Furthermore, if you claimed that Curtis botched the job then how did you know? Did you visually inspect the switch when it returned? Was this problem obvious to you or was it obvious to your electrical buddy and you are repeating his opinion like a parrot?
I bet there are others who benefited from Curtis' service, some have chimed in while others may not. I believe you started this thread on the wrong foot and it could have been handled much differently if there is an validity to your claim. As the situation currently stands, most forum members would probably discount this slander because your claim just isn't believable. Cheers, George |
well there is generic electrical diagnosis training, but yes, no technician ever opens a switch and starts tracing printed circuits, the factory will not pay for that level of diagnostics so most techs really have no specialty in the repairs you are implying he has unless he does it on the side as a hobby.

Insightful,
Thank you for the clarification. Cheers, George |
I was happy with 13betc. I can drive my car in the rain now. It's nice to have vendors that still support these cars.

I'm going to try and fix my own clock for the 2nd time. If it doesn't stay working this time, i'm just gonna send him my core and have him fix it. I've heard good things.

Dunno if this guy is good or bad but everyone makes mistakes, especially on soldering. He could have made one single mistake that he didn't notice, it could test fine temporarily, and then that joint could come apart later. I'd have to see the experiences of several people before saying someone is a sham. Also send it back to have him fix it again then. No, that's not an excuse for repeated mistakes, but whether this is a rare thing or a common thing for him, why wouldn't you?

I think one needs to get out more if the biggest mistake of their life was buying a messed up part online.

13BETC- Beware
I can add another complaint. A few months ago, family member bought and paid for a rebuilt clock using the 13Betc website. They never sent the clock, never contacted the buyer in any way. They didn’t waste any time hitting his credit card for the payment. So- he tried to contact 13B via email (there is NO other way to contact them). No response. More emails, more waiting- still no response. Fortunately, the buyer was able to contact PayPal, who processes credit card payments for 13BETC. They couldn’t get a response from this guy either and ended up refunding the entire payment. He was lucky: they could only help him because he had a PayPal account of his own. If he hadn’t, he’d have been out of over $100.00. I’d avoid doing any business with 13Betc. Despite others having good luck with him in the past, he is very unreliable and unresponsive. |
