Need a visual - Fuel filter Mount for FC
 

Odd request, but I'm at a loss. I went to replace my fuel filter and found it dangling by the fuel lines with the mounting bracket attached to the filter. Since this is the first time I'm replacing it since I baught the car last fall, I'm at a loss as to where it should be mounted. Service manual doesn't show or describe actual location. ( 4A-76 )

If anyone has open engine bay photos showing the mount attached, I'd be greatful!

its attached under the car.
There should be threaded holes on the driver side right under the end of the fender.
Its close to the rear of the lower control arm mount.
I will try and get a pic for you

While crawling around under the car I saw a spot that looked like a good mount point, but with the filter in the mount I found both the spedo-cable clip and the fuel return line / break lines along the firewall are in the way. I look forward to your photo.

OH, Never mind, I thought they are the same between turbo/na, but guess not....

with that pic just the primary and secondary fuel rails are turned around.

Its on the driver side, not really under the car but below the steering shaft

It should not be dangling, it should be on a bracket bolted to the frame near the firewall

Sketches show the general vacinity, but no way to tell exactly where it is mounted.

On my turbo, I remember the OEM bracket being riveted in. So I just tossed the bracket and ziptied the filter to the fuel feed hardlines. I'm not sure on the n/a cars, I never had to touch the fuel filter on my old GTU.

I finally found time to crawl under the car last night, and these photos were perfect! Thanks!!! From what I can tell, somone tried to remove the braket and tore the rubber mounts, leaving the mount bases connected to the frame. I would love to replace these mounts/bushings, but not quite sure what to search for. I don't need the filter braket, it's fine, just the rubbers.

Mounts were cheap, about $7 each from mazda. It's amazing what parts are inexpensive OEM, while other things like the dashpot and cats are ungodly $$$

Final update - Upper mount was easy to access, remove, and replace while standing ove the fender. The lower mount is a problem. I can't manage to sit a wrench or socket flush onto the "nut". For the time being I have the filter braket attached at the top, seems stable enough. The torn lower mount is still in place, so the filter braket is not going rub metal on metal against the inner wheel well.

Just a quick reply, because I found this thread pretty quickly while working on the same problem.
For anyone interested, the rubber thing that goes between the frame and the fuel filter bracket is Mazda part no. N236-13-363.
I've attached a picture of the part I'm talking about. Hope this helps!
