Need Tips From Someone Experienced

hey and thanx for all previous help... my donald duck luck seems to follow me

problem is: i get no power outta the engine, allthough the turbo builds up pressure at 0,5/0,6bar... and when the engine gets ressistanse and turbo-pressure is gaining,, it starts to make this sound (metal-sound)..
this happened suddenly....(not while driving)
The car starts without any problems and runs very well..
It does smoke a bit though
And the engine is an 13b turbo and ported(88mod)

I have tried:
-the cars battery had been empty (recharged it)
-we tried another (used)turbo to see if that was where the sound came from, but results... the same
-the exhaust manifoil has an external(waste-gate?) , closing-lip on this has been removed..(it was loose)
-i have made sure that it gets enough gasoline
-checked the ignition timing to
-checked the compression in the engine(same on both rotors both up and down)

Wonders:
-could it be the external wastegate
-could it be that both turbos is no good
-could it be ignition noise in the engine
-could it be that the computer needs to be reset
-what if and how and why me.........

Metal on metal = pinging

STOP driving the car under boost unless you plan on replacing the engine.

You have a timing problem (too far advanced) or a fuel problem (not enough).

What are you doing to control fuel?

(First... thank u 4 responding

-i dont drive it at all.(problems getting it registrered because of non turbo to turbo engine swap)
i got it in an garage

-i have tried to adjusted the timing right.. it didnt change the sound or power... BUT is it possible that it might be a problem with the ignition-cores,plugs or maybe i have switched the wires from the coil to the plugs?????
((((AND... WHEN WE TRIED TO CHECK THE TIMING. FROM UPPER CORE TO DOWN,,, THE RED AND YELLOW MARKS WERE ALMOST THE SAME..NOT 180 APART...dont know if this tells u something)))

-i dont have any fuel controller other than what is original...
i have suspected that the engine might get a little to lean mix.. because i had gotten adjusted the CO, and on the first run this problem appeared,,and the turbo and exhaust got red/hot....we checked the compression to..
-but i have given it more fuel...now...

-Is there any way to check the fuel/air on this car without sofisticated instruments ??????

-do u have any knowlege about the (waste-gate?)that sits in the exhaust manifoil??? bacause the lip on this (that closes one of the two holes on the turbo-side) has been removed??!?! I suspect that this might have something to do with the power loss...

ANYWAYS I SERIOUS APPRETIATE ANY TIPS OR POINTERS. U SEE I LIVE WAY UP NORTH IN NORWAY AND THERE ARE NOT MANY WHO KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT WANKEL HERE I AM JUST AN STUPID ENTHUSIAST WHOS BEEN DRIVING MAZDA FOR 12 YEARS NOW d:-)

Your car is European, so you have a distributor, correct? If you have the CAS, then the timing is essentially fixed and advance/retard set by the ECU. The CAS should be installed as per the Factory Service Manual (see the FAQ) or following instructions on this forum (search "stab cas").

Ignition timing is measured on the #1 leading plug. This is the lower plug on the front rotor. It should line up with the rightmost mark on the pulley (looking from the front of the car).

If the trailing wires are reversed, the engine will ping. Reversing the leading and trailing will cause all kinds of problem. The leading plugs are the lower plugs with leading #1 being the front rotor.

If the flapper on the wastegate orifice has been removed, then the result will be slow boost response and low boost.
