post some more about the problem... maybe we can help u out...

does the car drive ok and just not spool? does the gauge show vacuume? or just at 0?

1LuckyGuy 03-15-05 02:58 AM

it goes to about 3bars above zero butbut their is about four hoses that are capped off wit screws?

Ottoman 03-15-05 03:50 AM

it goes 3 bars above zero when ur on the gas? or at any time? the car is supposed to pull vacuume when the car is not boosting i.e. idle/cruise/etc

has the emissions system been removed or tampered with? if it's partially removed u might as well go ahead and remove it all then...

follow the ends of the hoses... are u reading the stock boost gauge or an aftermarket one?

how does the car drive? idle? bog? details plz

If your driving the car, and the stock boost gauge goes above zero on the stock boost gauge, then it is boosting, but very low boost.

You could remove the turbo inlet duct and grab the turbo compressor wheel and move it in a up down direction. It should have miinimal play and NOT touch the surrounding case when the wheel is turned.

Or it could just be a case of the catalytic converters being clogged up to much keeping it from reaching full boost.

But you didn't ask that. So maybe someone will come over and help out and get some free parts.

If the stock boost gauge moves when driving and on the throttle, then at least you know the wiring b/t the boost sensor and the ECU is good. That should give you a warm fuzzy.

And you know that you will not see boost sitting in the driveway, only when under load driving.

If the stock gauge is moving above zero, then it is not a vacuum hose problem. There is a vacuum hose that runs b/t the bottom of the boost sensor to the intake manifold. Actually it connects to a nipple on the acv. The top nipple that sticks straight out towards the fender. Right fender.

If this is a series four, then the other vacuum hose on the engine have zip to do with boost, with one smalll exception. There is an actuator on the bottom of a stock turbo. It has a long metal line coming off its front side and then the line turns and heads aft til it connects to a vacuum hose. That is for the twin scroll actuator. If it were going to the wrong source of vacuum (one that never switched off) then the turbo would be slow to boost. Just look at the twin scroll actuator on the bottom of the turbo and rev the engine over 2800rpm. The lever on the actuator should move when you go over that rpm and as you let the engine go back to idle the lever should move the opposite direction. In other words look for movement of the lever.

the thing is that the only hoseconnected is the one from the pressure sensor to the engine. everything else is blocked off the engine idles fine their is clogging in the cat, is the N/A cat or exhaust system same as the TII, the TII has a 4 in. single piping all the wayfrom the cat with BS welding points that prob leak. but again you cant go wrong for $850 TII. thats why i was offering $ and part sfor someone could come and help us out and just look at the car.

another thing is that the smog pump is missing and none of the gauges(speed, tach, fuel and temp) only oil and boost gauge work or at least move when rev the engine.

FDluv 03-16-05 02:20 AM

and how do you clean out your cats..if u can even do that thanx :bigthumb:

FDluv 03-16-05 03:52 AM
