in need of spring recommendations
 

what do you guys recommend as far as springs go? was looking at buying rs-r springs but cheapest i found was 205'ish. im on a budget here so looking for something cheaper atm.

i also am in need of a turn signal switch which i plan on buying off of iceman for 30
new total
$300.28

i want this to total under $400 or go over by very little $50 at the most.
i know i didnt factor in shipping costs but i want to count that out because it always variesand ill just pay extra for it.

they don't make rsr springs for our car anymore, and
your gonna want to buy new strut tops and associated hardware because it's gonna be just as worn as the old suspension

yeah nothx for 86 dollars each for the front stut tops and 25 each for the rear i think ill use the old ones.

whats the point of installing new suspension if your not gonna put new mounts??
the tokico hp's are basically a stock replacement why not just stick with the stock springs?? and have nice new mounts and peace of mind? unless your just wanting to lower the car.

what your saying is you wanna upgrade the suspension but you can't afford it.
how about saving your money and buying it all later or buying 1 piece at a time till you have everything? but going the cheapest route is just gonna give you more headaches.

fuck, im poor, i can't afford 2 mounting brackets for 172 dollars because that seems like a rediculously stupid price for how easy im sure they are to machine. i know jack shit about suspension, and all i want is some advice from someone who know what the hell they are doing because i never had anyone around to teach me how to work on cars. this is my second thread dedicated to suspension, the other thread went to about 6 pages long and i don't remember once anyone saying anything about having to buy mounts.
i told you guys my problem, my car drives like a friggin boat with all the uneven bouncing around. im pretty sure i have at least 2 F'ed up struts. if its the springs i don't even know so don't ask me.
why can i not just use the mounts that were on the car before....?
i have no problem at all just buying springs but i WILL NOT buy them if by using them with possibly f'ed struts they will get f'ed themselves.

2nd no the mounts cannot be machined. it's actually several parts one containing bearings and the other a mount for the spring, part of it is also rubber and wears out over time<---- why it needs replacing

really you don't need new springs, i have kyb agx struts and stock springs myself.

buy the tokico's hp's your looking at, keep them in the closet, save some money for another month or so and buy all the hardware you need, might spend 100 and doing the bushings while your at it, save alittle more money, buy some springs, and spend a nice weekend installing it all.

you do intend on installing it yourself right? otherwise tack another 3-400 on there


rx7's are not cheap to work on and maintain,

i can do the wrenching myself, i just have problems diagnosing issues/knowing all the steps i need to do to fix them because that kind of experience usually only comes first hand

i really have no problem with tokico blues even if they are basically oem replacement because 1. they are better than what i have now gauranteed 2. i have heard very good things
it was either the blues or the agx's for me but the blues are so much cheaper i will have to try them first.

back to my first question though and the point of this thread, can some one tell me or even better yet link me to some decently priced springs preferably >$150?

sorry dude even on ebay cheapest you'll find is 190 shipped for the tanabe's.

why are you so deadset on needing springs??? if your doing it to lower the car you'll need to buy a adjustable rear camber bar or links or you'll start going through tires fast. and it's not gonna make the car handle any smoother.

so lets say you spend all your money and buy new struts and springs, you strip your car down to install them only to realize the drivers side front strut mount bearings are bad, now your car is in pieces and your broke with no money to buy that piece.

or plan b,
you buy the struts and whatever mounts you can afford right now, you save money for a month, you then buy the rest of them and the springs. now nothing can go wrong when you go to the swap, everything will be new and tight.

also your probably gonna want to replace your inner/outter tie-rods and you'll need to get a full alignment when your done either way.

these cars aren't cheap, i have over 6k in mine and it still looks like a beater

thx for being the only one to help me granted it is 2am, but im not doing this for looks.. at all. i get such bad bouncing when im shifting 1-3 even if they are the smoothest shifts plus i go down some rougher roads and the car is ALL over the place, its terrible.

yea the lowest price are tanabes but have fun trying to find a set. I've been looking around for a while and they are on backorder right now from tanabe. I've been waiting since mid-feb. for my set to come in and nothing yet.

if they've gone on back-order thats not good, might have been discontinued, try calling them

it's not that the aftermarket is crap, it's the fact that it's a 20+ year old car

I've got a set of front and rear OEM shock/struts for sale with working actuators if your interested. They were pulled off of my GXL at around 52k miles and are in great condition. PM me if your interested! You can have them cheap. I can send pics too.

not really true. The setup i ran on my sport performed/rode fantastic. I had a set of intrax springs with a solid set of turbo 2 struts. The springs dropped ride hight about an inch and were only slighty stiffer then the turbo springs and there wasnt any excess osillation. If your looking for budget i would def advise this particular setup. judging stiffness is kind of a personal prefrence thing but im pretty picky and it worked wonders for me.

def get a camber kit though rear camber is rediculous even at an inch drop.
