Need Itemized List for fabbing a true CAI
 

I own a '91 FC non-turbo
it has the stock airbox and all that junk

I'd like to put in a true cold air intake and I just need to get an idea, ahead of time... what parts I need, maybe some steps involved in installing.

I was probally just going to route it to right behind the passenger headlight, and get on of those headlight covers with the air duct.
I know i need some piping, hose clamps... but not sure of what else.
I've seen people saying they pirated prelude CAI's and modded them slightly.
I'm just lost, call me a rotory noob or whatever I just need some help please.

There was a thread not a day ago with a guy that modded the prelude kit to work. Look for it and see if that helps you.

1x Prelude Intake Kit
1x Apexi Power Intake filter w/75mm flange (best filtering out there, toss that one that comes with the eBay kit)
3x 3" rubber couplers
1x Threaded brass nipple that fits the bypass air line

for a true cai you gotta have dry ice or something colder then teh air

I just got my local muffler shop to get the piping, had to cut it a little myself so im not sure of the measurements but i could find out. three of the 3" to 3" couplers and one of the 2.5" to 3" couplers. tapped brass nipples into the piping for the hoses, and you need to buy some heater hose to replace the hose and make it long enough, its like that on an s5 anyway, maybe you could tap them in further up. Assuming by your title that you have an s4, you need an afm adapter. you need a filter. and some use heat wrap. getting the afm adapter and couplers off of ebay is pretty cheap. and you can get the nipples from home depot. not sure if you have the equipment to tap in ones that are about 3/4" inch. get the piping from a muffler store. and get a filter online cheaply too. heater hose can be gotten at advance cheaply. thats about it, and remember to keep that afm level. or you could just go the easy way and buy the prelude kit. but how much fun would that be?

Location Location Location. The headlight cover vent, while debated heavily, is pretty useless in the daytime and completely useless when the headlights come up. Its easy to see by looking at the aerodynamic profile of the car that not nearly enough air passes through this area to make any kind of difference. Mount it lower and use the proper underbody ducting, or just build an airbox. As far as the piping goes, weld it up yourself or go to an exhaust shop and tell them what you want done.
