Need Help with picking engine!!!!

Hey guy's I'm in Ny and I'm going to NJ tomorrow to try to pick a 13b TII JDM engine for my swap...I asked them if they compression tested the motors they said no...that they are tested in Japan...Yeah right tell me anything:lol2: ...But they said I can check it myself when I get there....Yeah like I have a compression tester... How can I tell if the engine is still good and doesn't need a rebuild???? should I try to talk him down to about $1000.00 and then buy a rebuild kit and rebuild it before I install it??? If I put a motor in and it blowns soon after or is no good to begin with then thats the end of my project....and I'll just have to find another hobby, because I hate to do work twice!!!!:Wconfused

JDM motors = rebuild to be safe.

+1 on the rebuild. If you`ve done ANY research on this forum about "dropping in" a JDM motor, then you`d know that 95% of the time, people end up doing the work twice. REBUILD!!! AND PORT!!!

yeah, deffinatley rebuild it.
i got a jdm enigne. tore it down and rebuilt it.
jdm engines are great candidates for rebuilds, because they usually have really good housings.

you can turb it over by the flywheel. or pulleys and listen for compression. if no compression i wouldnt bye, but it stil maybe a rebuild.
