need help no compresion
 

Me and my friend installed a s5 turbo motor in his 91 N/A. Upon completion of the install the car would not start. The car is getting fuel and spark. So we did a compresion test to find out there is no comprosion in the front rotar housing. And very litle compresion in the rear housing. We did a visaul with a flash light and miror and it apears that all the apex seals are there. so this weekend we are gonna ATF the motor. As a last atempt befor pulling and rebuilding. If anyone has any other ideas on what it could be. or any other posible solutions to the problem at hand, that would be great thanx.

an was this motor a jdm motor bought from some company that sells them imported from japan? like osakajdmmotors.com or ebay? and claim they are all good and have between 30 and 50k miles on them? if so its bologna... most of the time... you did do the compression check with all the other spark plugs in the block except for the one the compression tester screwed into right?

yes we did the check with the other plugs in the block. and the motor was bought from engine land Inc. or some shit like that. wen we were puting it in we thought that the motor spun rather easy but proceded with the install.

A lot of these j-spec engines have been sitting for years in a junkyard in Japan. We have broken them down to find side seals rusted completely into the rotors, bad apex seals, oil control seals toasted, and just about any other failure you can name. The long and the short of it is that it is a junkyard engine. ATF will not break up carbon or rust, so you may want to try some seafoam or B-12 chem-tool first, then some ATF to lube things up. Remember just because you can see the seals doesn't mean that they are not cracked.

All of the other posts have good things to say, but before you do that fill er up with water and leave the radiator cap off. If water shoots out like 3' then it just o-rings and it has compression. because its all going into the ratiator/cooling system. just an Idea that's what I did when mine was bad, it acutally ran, but it shot radiatior fluid about 5' out of the hole for the lid. if it doesn't do that then yea its probably apexes...
