Need Help: Installing Engine Harness on S4 Motor. PLEASE HELP

Ok..... I have just combed the search and found nothing. I want to know if there is a writeup somewhere to help me install a new wiring harness on my S4 engine. The one thats on mine has been cut so I need to replace it. Please help. Thanks in advance.

hmm thats an ugly harness.

well i havnt takin my harness out at all but i have disconnected it from the engine.

1. find the ECU in the passenger floor. its under the carpet kinda in the footwell.
2. disconnect the harness from that and hopfully its not attached in a hard to reach area in the back of the dash somewhere.
3if you look under the dash from the drivers footwell you can see where it goes from the firewall to the ECU pretty much.

connecting everything to the engine shouldnt be extremly hard. just a lil confusing sometimes but I can try to help you out with that. The FSM should also be able to tell you what goes where.

Well I have just looked at some topics. I have a ECU harness which is what I am replacing. Also my ECU was removed so i have to reinstall that. So it runs through the firewall ? Ill have to look at it. Also do I have to take apart the Intake manifold to install it ?

You need to remove the upper intake. But it's pretty straightforward. Most of the plugs only go where they are supposed to.

Yes, it goes through the firewall on the passenger side. It's easiest to install the ECU after you have run the harness.

hmmmm when i looked at my engine it seems like it went through the drivers side firewall. hm. I looked quickly. opps

I have found that you need to bring up the Spider also, to make routing the wiring harness easier.

Finished time took me about 4 hours. http://24.174.176.2/gibby/pictures5.html
Also anyone know where I can get a wire diagram ? I have some wires that havent been connected cause I cant find it.

Factory service manuals are at http://www.fc3s.org

Be aware that some connectors may not be used based on the model of car.
