Need Of Help..gauge Cluster Fuse Blows...
I've had this problem for a while... that my gauge cluster fuse blows.... my mph works... the back lights works... the signals... just not oil press.... boost... gas... temp... and at 1st everything was ok... but its whenever i turned hard left it would short out... but after my crash it got worse.... now its like i put a new fuse in.. and right when i start it... the fuse blows already... anyone know what may be causing this.... and yes my car is repaired.... i just want to have a gauge again.... anyone know what may cause this....???????

Inspect the dash harness & anything connected to it. Give special attention to any non stock changes. |
i put a new fuse in.... and right when i turn it on... it blows already... the guages are gone... when i have the fuse in but and turn the car on... not start it... it shows everything... but right when i start it.... its gone.... anyone know??

Sureshot told you what the likely problem is- you have wiring that's chaffing on metal structure somewhere, and you need to track it down & find it...Start at the cluster connector(s), and work your way down the harness...

There are three connectors for the cluster. Two on the cluster itself and one located under the dash that feeds the other two.
Disconnect that one under the dash. Put a new fuse in. Turn the key to ON. Did it blow? Drive the car. Does it blow? NO? Then put that one back on and disconnect one of the other two and repeat the above procedure. So now you should know which plug when connected blows the fuse. Which was it? EDIT: My car has no cluster fuse. I have a ROOM fuse, located on the top row, in the middle of the top row, that is. Is that the fuse? If it is, and you had a minor wreck that effected the lights/side lights/rear lights......then take another tack. Disconnet the plug from the light switch and see how things work out from there. Or you might go look at the damaged area/light and see if the wiring is shorted THERE. |
Get under the car and check your reverse light wiring. Odds are it is shorting against the chassis or trans when cornering. IT is on the same circuit as the gauge cluster.
