Need Help finding Hardware for My Header/Exhaust
I just bought a 88' FC3S GXL. The seller gave me a free Racing B header/exhaust but he didn't give me any hardware or any hangers to install it into the RX7. What can I do to get this installed? I want to install badly because the RX7 has no exhaust at the moment and is very loud and the RPM's are low (Exhaust leak?) causing the car to die if not pressing on the gas pedal to keep the rpms higher than 1000. Can you guys help me find hardware or suggest any advice what I should do? I'm in love with this RX7. :)
here are the pic of the header/exhaust: http://img178.imageshack.us/img178/8...e002sp5.th.jpg http://img178.imageshack.us/img178/9...e001or7.th.jpg |
go to a hardware store and get some nuts, bolts and washers :dunno: you'll probably have to weld some hangers onto it. you could probably take it to an exhaust shop and have them do it if you are unable to.

Well I'm going to bring it to a shop tomorrow to see if they can install it.
How much do you guys think I'm going to spend if I do this? |

Well I was just looking around Mazda vendors and found www.mazdatrix.com with exhaust hangers. But for my year (1988) they had 4 kinds of exhaust hangers but only need the required hangers for the RacingBeat header/exhaust. Would you guys happen to know which hangers I would need to purchase?
Site Details: Hangers Setup: http://www.mazdatrix.com/pictures/ex...exhhangers.jpg Hanger A: http://www.mazdatrix.com/Pictures/exhaust/Hanger2.jpg Hanger B: http://www.mazdatrix.com/Pictures/exhaust/Hanger3.jpg Hanger C: http://www.mazdatrix.com/pictures/exhaust/Hanger10.jpg Hanger D: http://www.mazdatrix.com/Pictures/exhaust/Hanger1.jpg Which letter hangers would I need to purchase to get this exahust onto the RX7? Help is appreciated Thanks:icon_tup: |

I think you should remove the current system and install the new one yourself. Wire the exhaust to the car's hangers with coathangers or baling wire, THEN go to the muffler shop and have them weld hangers in the appropriate spots. That will save you a ton of money and also ensure that the header is properly installed. Use a new gasket and antiseize on the studs/bolts. You'll thank yourself later. Edit: Your problem is not just the rubber bits- your system doesn't appear to have the metal straps that the rubber parts attach to. If you can get the system in place, any muffler shop should be able to fab the hangers and provide the rubber isolators. Look at the FSM for the spots on the chassis to attach to. |
If you were in my situation, How would you find exhaust shops here in Miami, FL 33196?
I tried Mapquest.com and Typed in Auto repair in the buisness search and got some automotive shops but I don't know if their area is in exhaust.\ Any Suggestions? :Wconfused Also thank you for all your fast replies. |
Google "miami muffler", you Luddite.

Yeah... what they said... bolt it up with coat hangers... the exhaust manifold gasket from the current setup should be re-useable. Then go to a shop & have them hang it right.

clokker,
Thanks. Miami Muffler showed alot of results but that shop is located about 23 miles away from me. Another result "Midas Auto Svc" showed up and there about 4 miles away. I guess I'll check out the Midas and see if they can install the header/exhaust. I'll post pictures after the installation is done. :) I appreciate all of your fast replies. Thanks |
Thanks again. I appreciate all of your fast replies.
I ended going to Midas and they charged me about $400 plus $70 for labor. So I didn't give up my search and I checked out Miami Muffler here in Miami by Cutler bay and the Owner "Miguel" was so helpful and his prices were so cheap. He wanted $220 for the installation of the Racing Beat Exhaust but that's over my budget at the moment. So Instead I ended up get my exhaust tightened with a brand new gasket and 2 new bolts and the car started up no problems. :icon_tup: and oh yeah it sounded way more quieter. I guess I'll just put this racing beat exhaust in the garage until I save enough money to install it. |
Also, that's not a racing beat exhaust. That is a racing beat header though.

Some body is trying to rip you off. Did you tell midas that you have all the parts? 70 for labor sounds about right.
