need help with engine problem
 

i need some help with my car i just pulled a 91 rx7 out of a guys backyard and the engine is rotating but wont start i put a new fuel pump in so its gettin gas and new sparkplugs and wires and battery please help

have you checked for spark? checked for fuel? just replacing parts is not going to mean they work. you need to diagnose what is broken first. did he guy say that it runs? if he doesnt know than try a compression test. most likely it is just flooding though, do a search on "flooding procedures" and you should get a great amount of info on how to get a rotary started.

Ditto. But make sure you drain the old fuel (replace fuel filter since your in there). How long has the car sat? If its like a year, take out the spark plug and spray no more then a mL of atf in. Turn engine.

Once you get the car running, do a FULL, I repeat FULL tune up. Especially if the car has sat a long time.

its gettin gas and spark i checked but it does smell like its floodin

do a compression check........

first do it by ear..... pull the egi fuse, pull the front, top plug and listen for a loud "PWEESH" as you turn the motor over it should be consistant... if you get a loud pweesh followed by two puffs.. or just a bunch of puffs... bad rotor..... put the front plug back in and try the rear..


If you get all good soudning "pweeshes" then go on to a compresson check which is described all over the friggin place on this forum.

If that motor sat for a long time, the apex seals are probalby siezed up.
