Need Help with door lock issue - please :)

HI ALL:

My '87 RX-7's driver-side door has decided to get "stuck" and now I'm trying trying
to at least get the door open so I can remove the panel and fix what ever the
problem is.

After reading the archives and posts related to my issue - I have figited around a
bit and the "lock" mechanism seems to be functioning correctly now in that the
inside lock button goes up and down according to the "key" direction in the lock.

This leads me to believe that possibly the door latch mechism may have somehow
gotten stuck and I'm trying to figure out what the lock mechanism / system looks
like exactly so that I can see whet I need to "trigger" to get the latch to release
so I can open the door. Manual lock not power lock.

Does anyone know where I can find good diagrams / schematics of the door
components and / or lock mechanism ??

The ones in my Manuals are small, unlabeled, and not as detailed (close-up) as
what I really need.

Any help will be greatly appreciated -

i believe this is a known problem amongst rx7's you might wanna check the F.A.Q at the top of this forum for more answers. I have 2 7's right now and none of them have the drivers side lock mechinism working. i have to go to the passenger side , lean across the car , and unlock it manually . but ive gotten used to . buti just think its funny that both my cars have the same exact problem

Damn....

I just did all this a month ago, and meant to take pics.

yeah, the FSM is NO help... and I cant be of much help either.

This is just the "shady" part of me speaking.. seeing as how you have 4 posts and all.. um... why don't you unlock the drives side door from the inside? Or does that not work either. I always get kinda worried with all these threads out here "HOW TO EASILY BREAK INTO YOUR 7" or... "MAN THE 7 IS EASY TO GET INTO" etc etc.... keep thinking that JUST MAYBE there is a crook smart enough to check this shit.
