Need Help with Convertible.

I just recently got a 90 RX-7 convertible. I bought the car for $800, it doesn't start. First thing I noticed was the spark plugs and wires weren't in the right places. So I put new plugs that and I replaced the ecu because I wasn't getting any spark with the old one.

Now I have spark but there isn't any gas going to the motor. Pulled the fuel line from the block and cranked it and I get nothing. What's the best way to test the fuel pump? Also is it possible that it could be my fuel filter?

P.S- I sprayed some starting fluid inside the intake manifold and I almost started the car. I'm pretty sure the motor is good. The car only has 94K.

If the car didn't move for a while then it's very possible that you have clogged lines. And you do have fuel in the tank right?

Just so u know I have heard fo this before and it is like this on my car...

My Trailing coils are backwards when in relation to the engine.

T2 coil goes to T1 on engine
T1 coil goes to T2 on engine

Leading coils and plugs are exact.. my car had a big miss still started but did miss when I put them on "correct" I would make sure if yours were backwards to put them back..

my cas is a 89 (s5) convertable as well.

How can I unclog them? Of course I have a fuel tank.

The guy who used to own the car didn't really know much about rotaries. He got so frustrated trying to start the car he was about to thrash the car. The had four ngk trailing spark plugs. When I bough a new set i made sure they were two leading and two trailing.

I finally got the car started. I had replace the fuel pump and instantly it started. But it will rev to 1.5-2k and then it shuts right off.:Wconfused it puzzled for about an hour. I figured since the car has been siting for a while there might be a lot of junk inside.

I decided to go to buy some starting fluid and give it a shot. With the starting fluid I was actually able to rev the motor to about 5-6k but I was letting it warm up at about 3-4k. There was alot of gray smoke comming out the exhaust. It looked like I was doing a stand still for ten minutes, it was everywhere.

After it warmed up I shut it off and tried to turn it on again. Same thing reved to 2k and died. I tried again with starting fluid and I was able to rev it. I decided to redline to see how the motor would react but all the belts snapped in the process.:)
Does anyone have any suggestions?

You snapped the belts, all of them or just one? Sounds like you have something seized somewhere.

All of them snapped. They were really old and torn up, I was planning on replacing them anyways.

Sounds like your AFM is unplugged or bad
Mine did the same thing when I replaced the intake and forgot to plug the AFM back in during reassembly

afm is bad or the tps is not set correctly.
