Need help cant find windshield.

I need a windshield for my car but everywhere i look i cant find it. I looked in the junkyard and found a zenki or s4 rx7 with a perfectly good windshield. Everyone around here says it wont work for a kouki 89-91 rx7. Can you guys verify this for me?

I think it would fit, I don't recall there being a drastic change that would warrent a different windshield between those two versions.

I don't see why it wouldn't work... I had to get my windshield from the junkyard too. Of course... my car is S4 but either way, S4 and S5 are dimensionally the same as far as I know. So I don't see why you couldn't use a windshield from any FC except a vert. It may have a wire antenna built into it and the shade at the top may be a different color but who cares?

"Need help cant find windshield."
Normally the windshield can be located behind the hood at the front of the passenger compartment. They are made of glass and are clear. If the glass is very clean they can be hard to see. Just reach your hand forward from the steering wheel and sooner or later you will touch the winshield.

Sorry, it was too easy.

Make sure the mounting system is the same. Old rubber gasket or glued in? If it is the same mounting system, the dimensions should be the same.
If in doubt, take a roll of butcher paper, lay it over the old windshield and trace a paper copy. Cut it out, take it to junkyard and lay it over the new one. It should match up.

Good luck.

Only difference between in windshields in any FC is whether or not it has the built in antenna (which is only actually a "helper" antenna)

S4 will go into S5 and vice versa.

BTW any glass place (apple, speedy, etc) should be able to get you a brand new windsheild for about $140. Not installed, but just for the window....they're readily available from all kinds of major glass depots including PPG.

Likewise... There was only one place I called that could even find one new and he said it would cost like $700.00 because they were gonna have to buy it from another glass place and ship it to Nashville. He suggested I try a junkyard and be VERY carefull removing the old windshield. As it turns out, there is a used auto glass place here that set up shop right out side of our local Pull-A-Part junkyard so, they pulled a good windshield for me and istalled it for about $100.

so if it has a place for a wire antenna can I not use it?

classicauto 05-16-07 05:46 PM

Yes you can use one with or without a wire.

And I'm extremely surprised that no one in your area can ge a windshield for an FC. I just bought one for a customer here from Nationwide........$143.32 canadian

Whoever told you its discontinued is lying/uninformed or lazy.

There is no differance between a S4 OR S5 windshield except the helper antenna like classicauto stated. I have an S4 and The main diffs between 4&5 is in the drivetrain and some appearance issues ( body trim, lights, gauges, wheels etc.)
Any windshield from a 2nd Gen will fit, They are the same BODY.

jgrts20 05-16-07 09:05 PM

Um...........windshield world, dont you have a local windshield dealer that fixes or replaces windshields.

Sandman FC 05-16-07 09:20 PM

thats exactly what I thought. unfortunately every one in thus area says they cant get a new one.
