Need help ASAP car won't start
 
So I started my car and let it sit for 10 minutes as usual before driving, took off to go to school and was shifting at 3k the whole way because it wasn't fully warm. It finally got warm and I redlined 1st from a light and got to the parking lot and pulled in and it made this large pop followed by a few other small pops and died. It will turn over and sound normal just won't start. Any Ideas?! Did I just blow my engine?

rotary engines dont tend to die quickly (as ive experienced) check for fuel and spark

well aside from checking fuses to make sure you didnt loose fuel or spark, there isnt much you can do without tools.

with that, expect to be towing her home.

ive never lost an engine and had it complete "die" it would usually run on a single rotor. without any tools to start checking things, like spark, fuel, etc... not much we can do right now

Well all the fuses look good. And I can't really tow her home, so if I got tools what would be the easiest way to check? Also I pressure washed the engine bay yesterday if that has anything to do with it.

might have knocked something loose or water was hiding somewhere.

quick and ghetto spark check would be to take a screwdriver metal end into the spark plug wires, then holding the insulated side gap it off something that is metal and attached to the body (which is most things). having someone crank you should see spark.

if you have spark, well check for fuel, which might be tricker since you need to know if the pump is pumping, and the injectors are injecting.

aside from that... you can take ou the lower leading spark plugs, one at a time, and crank the engine and listen to what the engine sounds like.

are we working on the same rotary engines here?

in my experience most fail either just after a hard pull, a minute or 2 after a hard pull or during cranking.

start with the obvious basics

spark
fuel
compression

ruling out ignition is easy, check to see if the tach is bouncing while cranking
fuel is a little tricky, is the tank above 1/4? can you hear the fuel pump with the gas cap off after tapping the starter?
compression is just a quick test but easier to do at home than a random parking lot

Is this an S4 or S5? Have you checked the fuses in the engine bay. The EGI fuse(s) need to be good. On an S4 it would be the INJ fuse and on the S5 there is only one EGI fuse.

S4, I have checked all fuses.

Just stating the obvious of make sure it isn't flooded either.(pull egi fuse and roll it over for a few tries and throw it back in)

It bounced once and almost started and now it won't bounce at all.

try disconnecting the various connectors to the coils, blow them out (might have water in there). same with the plug boots (but less likely due to multiple coils).

pretty sure hte water has something to do with it. might also be best to just let it sit for a couple hours to "dry out"

Got it started and seems to be running fine but the temp gauge isn't working now.
