Need help
 

Ok so this is a continuation of my last thread. Since then i found out my coolant seals were toast. So long story short I found a used engine. Rebuilt at 60k miles and it has 10k miles on it. Has compression and is good. When I first got the engine in it started just fine.

I found a fuel leak on the primary fuel rail so I took everything off and fixed it and put the whole thing back together.

Now it won't start. It will start sometimes and do the 3k rev thing and then shut off. After that, it won't start and I'm not sure what to make of it. Everything is plugged in, all vacuum hoses are where they should be, there are no fuel or intake leaks. The spark plugs are fairly new, as I only put maybe a hundred miles on them with my other engine.

The coils are fine also. I have new spark plug wires and I have also checked the computer for codes and none have come. So I'm not sure what else I should do.

I thought about the OMP sending unit thing as the lines are clear but I don't see any oil going through them. Would I need to swap this from my old engine? or rather should I go though all that hassle to see what happens?

I'm really stumped as to what its doing.

If it makes a difference, this engine came out of an 87 fc. mine is a 88 vert. This is all n/a stuff also. Am I overlooking anything?

Check for a big leak in the intake, can you keep the engine alive with the gas pedal?

Did you check your gaskets? It sounds like a vacuum leak

Do a search. There is a standard, very old checklist of things to do when your car won't start.

spark
compression

Being new doesn't exempt anything from the list. New plugs doesn't tell you anything about the plug wires, the coils nor the main relay. You have to check something before you can rule it out.

And first check the simplest and most-obvious thing: is it flooded?

ok i checked everything. went over everything and i was able to get the engine going. i have to fix another thing that has to do with the idle, but it turned out that the primary fuel rail pulsation damper was doing something wrong.

i did this ^

before i put the pulsation damper back on it, the engine ran but fuel leaked like crazy.

now that i replaced the bango bolt where the pulsation damper goes it starts up no problem.
