Need Fc3s Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ok here's my story...i'm 14 and i just bought my first car. I researched all the compact tuner cars that i like and chose the 2nd gen rx7. Now that i have it i'm ready to start tuning it and setting it up for drifting...i know this will take alot of time and money to do all the work so that's why i'm starting a year and a half before i get my license...i wanted to know what suggestions you guys had about the type of turbo and suspension setup i should have for my fc
|
what model and year? and miles?
|
WTF!? 14yrs old? Im 16 and I thought I was too young to have a fc, but I do:)
and...yea what he said^what year and model? |
16 when got mine! 17 now and finishing tii swap and alot of other stuff
|
it's a 1987 gxl 5spd with 170,000 miles but the engine has been rebuilt but i don't know when and the person i bought it from didn't know either.
|
-_-......... i guess for now, get lsd. t2 lsd works good but id prefer a aftermarket one.
for suspension u can go jic magic, tokico, or zeal if u have the money. get all struts and new stabalizers. dun worry about power, its more fun flooring it when ur side ways than constantly taking ur foot off the pedal. and gdamn foo u only 14?? dont tune up ur car and end up crashing on ur first attempt when u go drifting. oh yeh, since u live in florida, take ALL emmisions OFF. ratsnest, air pump, EVERYTHING. -jimmy |
+1 on emissions
|
gxl's have LSD rear-ends.
get a roll bar, it'll be safer and stiffer. gut it. get a nice set of coilovers (JIC or Zeal) free up the exhaust. get some track time.....drifting is not as easy as it looks.... |
agried i might be 15 and havent got my car (its starting to make me mad) but i can drift a little its pretty hard track time is proble the best thing you can do. whats the use of haveing a drift car with out being able to drift
|
freakin-a. im only 17,
and im barely gonna pick up my 1990 RX7 GTU (w/ JDM turbo II) this friday... can't wait... |
oh boy...
14-year-old kids asking about how to prepare their rx-7 for driftin'... :rlaugh: this world is crazy... :wallbash: maybe the best advice for him and his family would be: learn how to drive straight first! :uh: |

OMFG...14 and your parents let you have a Rx-7 as your first car?! On one hand I think...Good for you; on the other I think...your parents are insane. I mean...for heavens sake, are you even old enough to get a learners permit yet? AND they are gonna let you tune it?! Damn man, they must really trust you. Maybe I'm just bitter because my frist car was a '89 Mazda 323....1.6 liters of pure hamster power baby.
In my experience, it's those who get too much power too soon and too easily have no respect for it. I highly recommend you take a couple of years to learn how to drive normally before you go trying to get crazy. Also, for you new drivers, I have two very important pieces of advice for driving: first is PAY ATTENTION to the cars around you!!! If you only pay attention to your own driving, you WILL get into an accident. The other is DO NOT HESITATE! Make your decisions carefully and follow through with them. Drivers that make decisions lazily and then hesitate when they figure out that it was a bad idea cause accidents. Good luck. Try not to get yourself and/or your freinds killed. Have fun waiting a year till you can drive it legally...

Oooohhhh TORTURE

Learn what you really want to do in life, at least get an idea, get a good GPA, get accepted to a good college. Don't buy a 7 yet, just wait. Drifting is a fad. Don't bother even looking at cars until you can drive one without a parent sitting next to you. FCs are good for sports car guys and SCCA events, don't be a heretic. Turboing them is super easy though, sell it to me, buy a turbo Neon, crash it while trying to pull a stupid drift, limp away. |

Pff... I touched my first rotary when I was 16, but didn't own one till I was 19...
Do you know what "tuning" really is? You say your engine has been rebuilt, did the owner have reciepts? The first thing you should do with that car is give it a full tune-up. |
Why is everyone telling this kid that he is to young i wish i was able to have my first fc when i was that age if the parent are down for it why not you guys sound like his mother or something. good on you man good luck with that fc and remember you have to respect that car like its your life
|
dont listen to them lol get a job, do good in school and most of all, READ READ READ as much as you can before you start throwing shit on that car. get a compression test done, if both rotors are below 105ish start saving for a rebuild, nothing worse than pouring money into rims and paint and suspension then having the motor blow on you. focus right now on replacing everything as per the tune up process (ALL fluids, hoses, plugs wires, filters, etc) then start modding.
i was 16 when i got mine; it was my second car. i'm 18 now and a poor college student, but i love every minute of driving that thing |
