need experience help with coilovers

i have some wheels that i want to put on my fc but dont what suspension i need for clearance.

will sturs/shocks and springs give more clearance inside the fender (back of rim to strut/shock/springs) compared to coilover?

will coilovers push in the wheel hub torwards the engine? will stuts/springs? or will it stay in the same place. the hub being pushed in will allow more clearance on the outside fender lip.

righ now the wheels i have stick out just alittle on the front on stock good suspension and fender. they clear inside with about 3mm and would clear the outside front fender if i rolled the lip.

i know it depends on what i get but i just need some opinion from people with experience.

Coilovers are usually smaller in diameter than regular struts/springs (especially the fronts) and will provide more clearance.

You need to be looking at the wheel's offset first, instead of the suspension.
How the rim sits in relation to the hub is the primary concern and then you can decide whether coilovers are necessary.

What size wheels/offset are you looking at?

You'd be better off looking here.

all coilovers i have seen give about 1/2" more clearance of the inside of the wheel to the strut/coil springs, the hub placement does not change unless you adjust the camber in but then you will have more tire wear but better grip.
