Need Brake Balance Help on '87 TII
 

Guys,

My car has new Eibach Springs, Tokico Shocks, and new factory pads all the way around. All rotors were resurfaced when the pads were installed and all the pistons seemed to move easily. My car locks the rear brakes before the fronts every time...this makes it dangerous under heavy brakeing. The ONLY thing I have been able to conclude that it MIGHT be is that I rebuilt the brake master cylinder with a piston/seal kit from a parts store. It's sealed well..no leaks and I have a good firm pedal (don't think there is air in the line). I noticed that the new piston was not EXACTLY the same as the factory ones (seals were in a different location on the piston). Does anyone know if this would cause my problem? If not....do the proportioning valves usually fail?

Don't know if this will help but I had the same problem on my '86 GXL. It has the 4 piston calipers which I think are the same as the turbo II.

My back brakes were locking prematurely but it turned out that the fronts were not grabbing enough. The pad was weged too tight in the caliper due to corrosion under the shims.

Would be worth checking if you haven't already.

It is a bad deal driving around like that. I flat spotted 2 brand new goodyear eagles that way.
