Narrow Range TPS resistance non-monotonic?

So I was checking TPS readings, and my narrow range is within spec on both ends (1.08 Kohm closed and 4.6 Kohm open). However in the middle, right at the point when the throttle plate lever touches the sensor the resistance actually jumps up to 13 Kohm and go down from there. Is this normal?

Also, while my narrow range is within spec, my full range is out (1 Kohm closed). The FSM does not seem to suggest there is a way to independently adjust each range, and I have heard that the full range is only used for the oil pump. Is it alright then for me to leave the full range as it is?

Thanks!

that probably means your TPS is out of spec, due to age. It's supposed to be monotonic, when working properly. The only way to adjust the full range, is to bend the bracket by prying with a long rod, like a screwdriver. That's the only way that you can change the starting position of the full range.

Well AFM resistance is non-monotonic too, so I was just wondering that might be the case for TPS too.

And heck the sensor sells for over $400 new. Better check a junk yard first.

or our for sale forums, it is often better to get one from a running car than one that's been sitting in a junk yard for a while
