NA and TII oil pumps same?

Are the TII and NA oil pumps same or different? If they are how do you tell? What would happend if I run an NA pump in my TII engine using the FD oil pressure regulator?

The Oil pump is slightly different, as the pump rotors have a slightly increased width (50x17.5mm for the Turbo vs 50x12.5mm on the Non-Turbo), and the oil pump middle plate is thinner on the Turbo one, but the driven ratio is exactly the same, and the assembly is interchangeable. The only real reason for the increase of the pump rotors was to make up for the extra lines for the Turbo.

Now the MOP is considerably different as discharge was increased to 2.6~3.3cc/max@2K/5min (the non turbo MOP puts out 2.1~2.8cc/max@2K/5min).

But both used the same 71 PSI regulator, so there is no reason to swap the regulator.

If you use the turbo oil pump, then use the turbos baffle plate for the oil return as well. It helps prevent oil splash from the pump.

What i said in the post is that this is for a TURBO engine. The reason I want to run the upgraded OPR is because I have a stage 3 turbo and ported engine. I will be running it hard, so the more oil flow the better. I asked about the oil pumps because I lost/misplaced my TII pump and have 2 NA pumps laying around. So what I wanted to know if I HAVE to get a TII pump to put in it.

Mazda answered your question for you. They made a higher capacity oil pump for the turbo, soooooo........what do you think? Pony up the bucks and buy one. New.

Or you could upgrade like I told you. :-p
