NA owners-intake question?

for all of the NA owners who have ported intake manifolds, i have read all the threads about porting the manifolds and how that can be advantageous. It seems like most people here are just doing it themselves, these people have claimed good gains. Now my question is---- would the cost of getting the intake manifold flowbench tested when ported be worth the cost in terms of performance gains, or should i just do the shadetree mechanic porting?thanks

Id just do it yourself, although I would suggest getting a spare one to do it with, just in case. Just get a dremmel with a good bit, and just go to town. :) I need to do mine again, as I did a really lousy job the 1st time, I hardly took any off at all. But its not too hard. I dont think the HP gains would be worth the cost of getting it flowbenched.

if you have the money GET IT FLOW TESTED! that being said if you have any experience with porting at all you can see where to port the manifold to make the bgest gains. hell, i had no experience with porting when i did my tb and dynamic chamber but, you can just tell where the restrictions are. just make sure not to go over board just smooth out the areas that impede flow don't go for the biggest you can just the best smoothest flow.

thanks for the advice guys, i think i will just do it myself, i sa some place advertise that they port rx7 intakes but range from 75 to 400 bucks, and u gotta send yours in and wait however long it takes them. so i guess i have to price out some gaskets now. Has anyone used generic gasket paper and precision cut it out to match

I'll be, I just so happen to have a spare intake manifold laying around. Bring on the HP! :)
