N326 vs. N327 ECU

Are the N326 and N327 ECUs interchangeable?

I rebuilt a 1988 NA and can't get to start reliably (about once every 20 tries) because it floods. I have both a N326 and a N327 ECU that I swap. I know that the N326 works because I took it out of my wrecked '87 base model.

I would appreciate any help.

if the N326 came from an S4, i'm guessing it's a S4 ecu, while the 88 is an S5. I would think the answer in that case, is no.

Uh, they are both S4...

Yes, they interchange.

whoops......I thought that 88 said 89...........I must be really tired.

Yea, they'll both work.

Isn't there a difference with the injector impedance? I always heard that was the difference between N326 and N327. (N326 is low impedance and has resistor box under AFM.)

Repeat after me...

The ECU does not know what impedence the fuel injectors are...
The fuel injector impedence is compensated IN THE WIRING HARNESS...

The only difference is that the N326 is designed for Saturation Injectors, while the N327 is designed for Peak and Hold injectors.

But in the real world there is no real difference.

Icemark, I was doing a little reading and I found something that contridicts what you said about peak n hold and saturated injectors. It seems it might be the other way around?

http://www.robietherobot.com/storm/f...ectorguide.htm

It says high impiedence injectors run on a saturated injector circuit while low impiedence runs on a peak n hold circuit.......

Yeah, I might have gotten it backwards

i have a 87 NA with n326 everything. it revs up nice in neutral but when i put it into 1st and try and go it wants to die...

theres a vin split in 87 so i dont know what to use.. i have the red top injectors in there(3 ohm) with my resistor pack. would i need the n327 ecu for the setup i have? i swapped out n326, n322, n327 ecu with t2, vert and other afm and nothing made a diff, i had the same problem, this has been an issue for awhile now and i cant seem to get a straight answer please help!!!

550cc's are t2 injectors.

Do you have a SOLENOID RESISTOR PACKAGE in the car or not?

1887's with the solenoid resistor get the 3ohm injectors.

1987's without the solenoid resistor package get the ???? 10-12 ohm resistors.

I've run a 86 non turo with N327 and N326 and there is no difference.

All series four non turbo cars get the 460 injectors. Turbo cars get the 550's.

550''s in a non turbo car will cause waay overrich problems. unless you have a RTEK or something to lower the fuel duty cycle.

I don't trust red, brown, orange, yellow colors to determine what the injector is. i.,e 460 or 550. That's just me I suppose.

until today this thread was resting at 5 years old!
N326 and 327 are the same Basically.(S4)
