N/a to Turbo swap, need to swap this stuff?
I got some quick questions to ask about my n/a to Turbo swap. Do I need or should I swap the following items?
-Idiot lights? -Coil/ignitor packs? -Radiator? -Fuse pack? Is there anything else im forgetting besides: complete engine, transmission, drive train, engine wiring harness, boost sensor, fuel pump, gague cluster, ecu, o man now im drawing a blank on anything else. I just want to get another list together. Ill probally do a write up or something useful with all this information... Thanks guys. |
You're going to want a driverside harness to install the guage cluster, I would just go with an aftermarket boost guage. Radiators are the same. I would say swap the coils, but I'm not really sure, because I've never done the swap. Although I am planning one in the future (20b or rew)

Here's a complete parts list, I'm about to tackle this swap in a few weeks. Good luck! BTW, you don't need to swap the guages and idiot lights unless you want to rewire the main harness (not fun). The radiators should be the same. Use the TII coil pack. |
Thanks guys you are super fun guys.

There is no difference between N/A and Turbo coil packs. They are the same, even the same P/N.
Well that makes my life even easier, hehe.

Throttle cable, AFM, brake booster line, hood (to fit the TMIC under)
you don't need the brake booster line either. All FC's have the valve regardless of N/A or Turbo, unless someone has switched the line with something aftermarket.
T2 Tranny mount is needed though |
I don't know about your FC's, but on the 4 of them I've got here, not a one of them has the valve.
never seen one without it except when some lameo has replaced the line with an aftermarket one.
Strange, 3 of the 4 were completely stock at the time too...
You won't see it in the line, unless you take the line off and stick something down it or try and straighten it enough to look down it. It does not really bulge anything.
I was shooting air through it from both sides to see, and everyone of them passed air both ways. That's from the end where it goes into the booster to the other end.
yes pressurised air will go both ways
Isn't that the purpose of the checkvalve, to prevent boost from making it's way to the booster?
other way around, its to prevent the booster from loosing vacuum.
Will the fuse pack in the engine bay still be the same?
yes
