N/A to TII fuel pump conversion, I searched. Also a cargo bin question

Question #1: Ok I have read it on here many times that people use a TII fuel pump in an N/A, however I never found a wirte up on this. Is it just a drop in? Would I need to change out the FPR or anything alse for this to work?

Question #2: I'm still trying to find a discreet place to hide a 10 lb bottle of nitrous. The spare tire are won't work for various reasons and behind the passenger seat takes up alot of passenger leg room. So my last choice is the cgo bins. Now my question is, could I cut out the side or bottom of a bin to allow the bottle to fit at more or less a 15 degree angle and still be able to close the lid? I was thinking about cutting from the drivers side bin throught the wall towards the passenger bin but I honestly have no idea whats back there, i've seen a 2+2 and it looks like there should be room but I'm not sure.
P.S. Its a s5 N/A

Cliff notes: Whate do I need for a T2/N/A fuel pump conversion? Is there enought space to cut through the side of a cargo bin and fit a 10 lb bottle inside?
Any and all help and or comments is greatly appreceated.
Thanks

The T2 fuel pump is quick and easy. It's been a while since I swapped out my pump so I'm gonna be vague here but give you the general idea.

Lift up the carpet and you will see a little metal panel thingie. It should have a bunch of screws. Unscrew those and remove the panel. Then there will be some wires and shit down there. Remove those and you can lift the assembly out. Then you will see a bunch of wires and shit and what looks like a brown lump. That's the mechanical part that you will be swapping out, essentially be removing all the wires and putting the T2 pump in there with the same configuration. There's also a filter type of thing that people call the sock. You need to change that too.

ok thanks, so that answers my first question. I guess thats why there no writeup about it, it sooo easy.

anyone else got any ideas on question #2 before I start hacking up my cargo bins?

If it won't fit in the spare tire area then your only choice would be in the cargo bin. I'd recommend removing the bin first and see what kind of room you have under there before you start cutting.

There shouldn't really be anything there, I think I've taken mine out once or twice. If you want some help let me know and I'll come over.

You should be able to pull out those bins really easily. They should just pop right out after you remove the screws. You will get a good view of what can fit in there. I have heard of people just bolting the bin lid hinge into the frame and havin the lid open to reveal open space with the bottle in it.

This is probably what I will do.

yeah, thats a good idea. that way i won't have to hack up my interior peaces in case i need to take it out one day

oh, one more question: does it matter weather i get a S4 or S5 t2 fuel pump? I have a s5 N/A

classicauto 04-19-06 09:26 AM

question for you:

what do you think you will gain from putting in a TII pump? other than increased gas consumption and a level of richness that will rapidly foul your spark plugs.

bigdaddyp 04-19-06 09:33 AM

my guess would be that he is getting the higher flowing fuel pump to support his nitrous shot. Just throwing a guess out there though

classicauto 04-19-06 09:37 AM

yes but he will be getting that extra fuel all the time.....

well that is why i asked in my forst post about other things that i might need to change to make the TII fuel pump work. It seems like the FPR would keep the pressure the same as it was before, just return the greater volume of fuel to the tank when not being used.

I see your Schwartz is as big as mine...

The fuel pump is too easy to write up. Just a few bolts and some hoses. Question #1: How much are you getting the TII fuel pump for? A Walbro is only $100, and will support almost any nitrous demands you ask of it. I assume its a wet shot.

About the bottle, been there, tried that.

I settled on 2 options:

#1. Two 5lb bottles in the drivers bin (passenger bin has battery).
#2. Two 15lb bottles in the hatch area with really dark tinted windows.

Give me a call and well see what you got going on.

well my question is: what is a proper FPR? what else besides the actual pump do i need? do i need a TII FPR?

Also I may be getting a TII fuel pump for $20

And, i already have a 100lb bottle (got it for pretty cheap) but haveing 2 5 lb bottels may have been better but I have soem questions about that.

1: does it cost more to fill 2 5lb than one 10?

2: do 2 5lb bottles fit easily into the cargo bin without customizing it?

1. Im using an Areomotive FPR.

2. Thats a good deal for a TII pump, but facts are facts: its used and might not be in 100% condition.

3. Where I go, they charge $40 for a 10lb, $20 for the 5lb, and, you guessed it, $60 for the 15lb.

4. The two small bottles fit great, and reqiure a custom bracket.

How much big of a shot are you planning? I almost sure if your breaking trannys without the NAWZ, your going to need an upgrade with it.

LOL, well i seem to break everything. Anyway I'm going to do a 55 wet shot for now. So the priceing for the bottle fillup is the same eather way. Well i have a 10lb bottle for now i'm just going to fit it into my cargo bin unless sommone wants to trade 2 5's for my 10.

So i'm still wondering, with a TII fuel pump will i have to upgrade the N/A FRP?
