N/A starter on a TII Tranny????

ok i found out that when i bought the car it had a TII tranny but the starter was from a NA so my car now cranks really slow like it was a weak battery ,but today i went to advance to buy one and i found out that it was a starter for NA who figures?? i put the TII starter in and now it cranks up fast also i heard like a metal grind when it cranks up does antbody know why it's not really that loud but i still can hear it. also my power improved does anybody know the difference just wondering???? about NA starter and a TII???

I dont see how the new starter can affect you power? The starter isnt engaged when you are driving. The starters are the same as far as I know. Maybe the new one cranks faster than the old one because it is simply NEW and not worn down.

The N/A and TII starters are different. The N/A starter doesnt bolt up to the TII trans. And Apathy is right about the old starter being worn out. The new starter will crank the motor faster. As far as power the starter has no real effect on that. And the grinding sound, did it just start after the installation of the new starter? I'm guessing so. The only thing I can think of is that the bolts on the starter are not tight causing the stater to shift its position some when it engages and the teeth are grinding on the flywheel teeth. Hope that helps.
