N/A starter swap with Turbo starter

Hey,

Today I'm getting a 1988 Turbo. I currently have a 1988 SE. With the new car I'm getting, the starter is going bad and I was wondering if I could take the starter from my base rx7 and switch it with the one on the turbo model. The starter on the turbo is really old and hasn't been replaced yet. The starter on my base is fairly new. I pretty sure it will be fine. Please let me know if it will work.

Thanks,
Jordan

Turbo starters can only be interchanged with auto tranny starters.

A non turbo, manual tranny starter will not fit on either an automatic or a Turbo tranny.

You can take the bad parts and swap them...if the problem is the solenoid, you can swap the solenoid from the good one onto the bad one. Same for the motor itself. It's just the frame that they are both mounted into that cannot be swapped.
