Mystery Vaccum Lines

I am in the progress of putting my engine back together and noticed some weird vaccum lines that do not seem to go anywhere. Can someone please tell me what I am supposed to do with them.

I've circled the vaccum lines.

Anyone? I really want this in by tommarow

Slow Rotor 04-07-07 08:41 PM

Have you checked the manual?

Biznatcher 04-07-07 08:51 PM

I downloaded 2 big ass engine overhaul manuals with no luck, all it says is to connect all vaccum lines, nothing about these ones.

ryderX 04-07-07 08:53 PM

rats nest! get rid of it!

Try that one should help you out.

Biznatcher 04-07-07 09:28 PM

Yea I have that one, do you think i could just plug the hoses?

Biznatcher 04-08-07 10:35 AM

Anyone have any pics of this side of the engine with all vaccum lines connected? someone mus have something

boost_its_what_for_dinner 04-08-07 10:42 AM

2 questions ?
1. is that a jspec s4 motor
2. becuase you have no egr valve, so it looks like jspec s5 manifolds.

one more
you still have the pulsation dampener?

boost_its_what_for_dinner 04-08-07 10:45 AM

you also are missing one vacuum nipple on the firewall side of intake s4 should have 4 nipples?

NCross 04-08-07 10:48 AM

its hard to tell from the pictures. i want to say BAC.

how mine is off the top of my head...

-cruise control (rear UIM, facing upward)
-2? on the BAC area (behind oil filler neck)
-1 for the fuel rail (behind coolent filler neck)
-1 for atmospheric pressure sensor (above exhaust)
-1 for secondary throttle plates (rear UIM)
-1 capped (rear UIM)
-2 capped (above exhaust, left UIM)
-3 on front of dynamic chamber
-2 on rear of dynamic chamber

ill be poking around my engine today replacing misc bolts (im bored, sue me!). if i see anything that might be useful ill get back to you.

I was told this engine was from a S5 jspec car, sadly I dont know what the pulsation dampener looks like.

The length of the hoses dont allow them to really fit to anywhere I can see, could I just plug them all or is that a bad idea?

Biznatcher 04-08-07 12:30 PM

I am really tempted just to plug the hoses? anyone know if this is reeally bad?

boost_its_what_for_dinner 04-08-07 12:41 PM

well if look at the pic and see the dirty yellow plastic cap thats a p/d and the s4 has that not s5but i would pull all that crap off or plug them.
are you running any emissions at all?

Biznatcher 04-08-07 12:47 PM

Im a noob about rotaries and cars in genral but I know a few things, I think I am running some emmisions but some parts have been previously blocked off.

boost_its_what_for_dinner 04-08-07 12:52 PM

take more pics of motor do a 360 photo shoot so we all can see what exactly you are and arent running and to see if its a s4 or s5

dipsherry 04-08-07 12:54 PM

time to buy a set of block off plates

Biznatcher 04-08-07 03:36 PM

I think I have it now, I got a local rotary guy to come help me out. I just had to loop the vaccum line to the vacant nozzle and just plug the other one, this guy is probably the best rotary knowledged person in edmonton too. :bluesuit:

boost_its_what_for_dinner 04-08-07 08:15 PM

who?? and did he tell what motor you had? cuz the p/d and s5 manifolds are suspicious

Phantomkid 05-24-07 11:27 PM

better then trying to follow the rats nest or look at that diaphram which is impossible read on what color the solenoid is and what it does. i used to have those written down exactly what they were but im not by that paper 2 go to the air bypass i believe the from the switching solenoid and the afterburn solenoid. one goes to the egr and one goes to the twin scroll on the manifold. Telling us its a s4 and the other is hooked up to the fuel pressure regulator. The best way to tell which is which is research the solenoid find what it does where it goes and disconnect the vacuum line at the solenoid and blow into it to see where the air will go. usually one is from a vacuum source pulling in vacuum from the intake and the other will come out there which would be the xswitching part. im not totally sure but i believe that the afterburn was at the top of the air control valve and switching at bottlem. hope that helps bro good luck. i just removed mine last week after learning where everything goes and what it does it you plan on removing the intake more then once its a pain in the ass

Phantomkid 05-24-07 11:29 PM

it looks like there is a vacuum hose clamped off you can tell if it has the twin scroll by looking for the acuator on the exhaust manifold. there will be one for the wastegate and one for the twin scroll if you have it.

Those lines are either for ERG or BAC, cant remember which one at the moment. But it is one of those two.. im leading towards BAC.. check the FSM.

Those lines go to the emission control nest to the air pump. You probably blocked it off. Dont worry about it, just plug them with nipples. Thats what I did.
