My Seven is Vibrating like crazy...
Ok, Basically I had some bad vibrations at idle, and while accelerating.. I did notice that my tranny mount looked bad... The rubber bushing in the middle ripped apart.. So I replaced that AND the "Y-mount" rubber bushings as well... Then the vibrations almost went away... But now they are coming back, and I look at the tranny mount every other day and it looks perfectly fine!!
I plan on replacing my motor mounts (cuz they need to be replaced to) but listen to this : I am cruising on the interstate to work, at a steady 3k RPM in 5th gear... it's vibrating bigtime... So I push in the clutch pedal and let the engine idle while I am just cruising, and it's still vibrating a LOT!!.. so I take the tranny out of 5th gear and put it into neutral.. STILL vibrating.. Then I put it back into 5th gear and the vibration goes away (for the most part) Then when I let off the clutch again it comes back.... Any ideas what could be causing this ? I have sat down and nearly HURT myself trying to think what the problem could be and all I can think would be the prob is internal tranny problem (Please say I'm wrong :) :confused: Thank you for any help or response you could post... |
Well, since you put it in nuetral and had the clutch in, this implies drive-train. Check your front differential mount (right near the flange that the driveshaft bolts to), then check the two mounts on the back of the differential that look like ears, make sure they aren't broken. If that doesn't change it, make sure your tires are balanced/not pointing at each other, then check your axles to make sure they aren't bent (unlikely), if that STILL doesn't solve it, check the driveshaft and make sure it's balanced and even.

Your driveshaft is out of balance most likely. Take it to a driveline shop.

long shot but maybe your tires are out of balance. maybe a weight fell off and your tires are vibrateing=I

Bingoboy hit it. - U-joints. When you unload & reload the drive line, the U-joints can reset one time with the driveshaft centered, the next time off-centered.

Well i'm experiencing a similar issue. the car sort of vibrates (violently) when i release the clutch a little fast... but if i drop it into neutral it stops... then if i put it back into gear, it no longer exists. F*cking weird. Could this be my driveshaft??

Just to be on the safe side. Check all of your tire pressures. I had a vibration that I could not figure out. I would have sworn it was the driveshaft except I could not find any play in them. I recently noticed that my tire pressures were low. After setting the correct pressure my vibration is ALMOST gone.....you don't even really notice it now. In my experience vibration on the interstate is ALMOST always tires (pressure or balance or just worn funny). Anyway....it's free to check the tire pressures so you can't go wrong.

Check your fan - my p/s belt jumped the pulley and took two blades off the fan - after that the car shook at idle and especially during accelaration - you would not believe how much an out of balance fan can shake the engine and then the whole car.

Yea, I was just going to mention your fan, because you said it shakes at idle right? This is the only thing that would make sense, if your fan is loose believe it or not you can get a hell of a vibration comming from that thing.

Is it more on one side than the other? Could be CV joints in the rear axles. That can be a pretty pronounced vibration.
