good deal, i can't deciede weather to order those, or the advan knock-offs.
glad rota is has somthing wider than 7" that will work on our cars. |
they weigh 19.4 lbs. each........ is that bad or good???
|
thats not bad.
|
19 lb for 17 inch is not too bad. i was wondering what the perfect sized rim would be for a gen 2 gxl with weight and size as a concern. im thinkin 16's for mine but might seem a little small.

i have 40 offset wheels on my car right now, so i hope 5mm isnt too much 35 offset should be good. if you put the 30mm wide fenders on, you'd have at least a 30mm gap between the inside of the fender and the wheel. I'd actually get something lower than 35 for an 8 17x8 wheel with the stock fenders(so it'd stick out more)...but I have issues when it comes to wheel fitment. anyway, you definetly won't need wider fenders for those wheels. oh, and post pics when they're on! and what size tire you planning on running? |
they look good be sure to post some pics of your car after you get it painted and have them installed
|
:werd: Don't foret to post pics. I like them, especially the color.

Fake Work Emotions... hot. They look best on an S2000 (the real ones anyway). :bigthumb:
|
fake???? i thought Rota wheels was a "name brand", much like tsw, enkie, ect....... i know that alot of the evo and sti guys love rota wheels! are you sure they are a knock off??? im sure there are wheels that look like it, open five spokes are very common! im not arguing, im curious! sorry if it sounded that way
|
yeah, almost all of them (if not all) are copies of other company's wheels.... not that its bad, because rota makes good wheels (I think). just their designs aren't exactly 'original' :D
|
Yea rota pretty much copies all the popular designs from other wheel manufacturers and makes them. But their prices are so good I wouldnt mind.

vipers i love ur car. cant wait to see it when its not all decald out... plus did u order that carbon fiber hood for my fb yet???
|
True, you do get the basic LOOK of $$ wheels but they don't offer the large selection of sizes or offsets. For an 8 inch wheel, that's a pretty high offset and it will sit in the wheel well a fair amount. Maybe some spacers would be a good idea if you want to fill the fenders. Still, when short on $ the replicas are a good buy and I think they will look great on an FC.
Here is our 350Z shop car with Work Emotion CR Kai's, 18X8.5 front and 18x9.5 rear (+30 front, + 20 rear). http://www.z1auto.com/images/adamrea...2bearsmall.jpg |

Also, most newer companies that are coming out (and even some older companies that are bringing out new wheels, like Enkei) are starting to make knock-offs. Tenzo wheels are almost all knock-offs. They have the Shu-4's, which are knock-offs of the old school Schumaker wheels, they also have knock-offs of Mugen RNR's and many others. There's not much that you can find anymore that's "original." It seems anymore, that if you want anything that's a good size, a good weight, and an original wheel you have to find the super Japanese name brands. |

There are a LOT more original wheels to be found...it's just that everyone wants the big $ wheels and most people probably can't afford them. Knock off's help fill the void for those that want a certain style. However, what you usually give up with a knock off is choice of size (diameter, offset etc...) and quality of materials. While they look the part, knock offs very very rarely have the finish of the real pieces, nor are they as strong. I'm glad they are out there, don't get me wrong - but it's a buyers market and many buyers want the $ look without spending the $ hehe If there is ONE company that Rotas are very very well suited, it's Subaru. They knock off many of the Prodrive wheels as well as some Volk and Work etc...and make them accessible in the odd Subaru bolt patterns/offsets. Go to any Subaru forum like www.nasioc.com and you'll find many many Rota freaks! |
wow rotas are knock off's you learn something new everyday on the forum hey vipers what all parts can you get for rx 7's
|
meh. i prefer a noticable lip on a RWD car. Those look like FWD wheels. No lip like GXL wheels.
