My new mustang rims **PICS [56K maybe]**

Hi all,

I'd like to thank the forum members that helped me in my other thread...

Mustang GT Rims (2005) mint condition - $160
Bridgestone Potenza RE070 225/45/17 (8/32nd Tread) - $75
4 Cans Duplicolor Bronze Wheel Paint, 2 Cans Clearcoat - $35

TOTAL - $270

The lug studs were long enough, although i've read otherwise on some threads (8-9 Turns). The front tires are sticking out a hair and rub on hard cornering and big bumps. I gotta say the paint was amazing...

Here's the pics.

Omixeo 10-08-06 04:41 PM

Looks pretty good, I like them.

platinumyama32 10-08-06 05:12 PM

rims = nicey

bronze = pukey

Garoad 10-08-06 05:22 PM

The bronze is awesome with the car. Love it.

RE-Amemiya 10-08-06 05:27 PM

I like them! Nice color too!

DarkKnightFC 10-08-06 05:35 PM

Next Mod is Springs......

RussTII 10-08-06 05:50 PM

yea, looks good.
Now all you need to do is get rid of the wheel gap

melicha8 10-08-06 05:54 PM

The springs will fix that wheel gap. I'd say it wouldn't hurt to add a little camber to solve that rubbing

staticguitar313 10-08-06 06:19 PM

nice color, not a fan of nutstang rims though

slo 10-08-06 06:24 PM

I thought the 05 and up had a different offset that wouldn't fit, like +45 or so vs 94 - 04 at + 30 or +32. I have 98 Gt rims with 225 255 and 235 with g force sport would fit in the front 245 might. 265 would fit in the back but be to big for the rim.

HUH? so you fit 245's in the front with no rub?? that's odd...haven't really seen anyone else with that kinda fitment.

Offset seems to be about +30. I'm pretty sure there are also differences in the manufacterers "225" size. My tires were made just for the STi by Bridgestone, maybe they are on the big side of 225?

Yeah, I wish i could get some Advan RG's or something, but for the price and tire options i have now, i can't complain.

Thanks for the advice in my other thread.

drft_180sx 10-08-06 06:34 PM

SPRINGS WILL BE NEXT...DON'T WORRY....now i just have to wait for them to not be backordered.... see sig.

Also, the bronze looks a little pukey in the pics, i'll try to get some better pics tomorrow in the light, it looks really nice.

How do i add front camber? without pillowball mounts?

Also, I wanted black lugnuts, but autozone only had a choice of blue, gold and red...oh well.

brando54009 10-08-06 06:36 PM

looks way sweet

adrock3217 10-08-06 06:37 PM

Those are the 99-04 GT rims.

drft_180sx 10-08-06 06:41 PM

OK OK im an idiot, they came off a 2004!!! Sorry for the confusion.

jazzmanbob 10-08-06 07:54 PM

To add some camber check out Ingalls for front strut mounting bolts. Changing the upper bolt that hold the spindle to the front strut give you about 2 degrees of adjustment. change bopth to get up to 4 degrees. Also rotating the pillow block in the mounting holes of the shock tower can allow for some adjustent of caster and camber. Normally there is a small white dot on the rubber mount near the front inner strut tower mounting bolt. moving that to anothe location changes the camber and caster.

thats what i did on mine because i notice that my front tires are worn in the outside so i turn the blocks around and i dont know how much camber i got but is not much, maibe like a degree or less

That's how it looked with black...i think i like bronze a little better because you can actually see the details in the spoke...

ALthough i used flat black hi-temp paint to do my old rims, which probbly didnt help...i wonder if the duplicolor black wheel paint has any mica/flakes in it?

Hey thanks man, you must have been up at the meet @ bear mtn?? which one was your car?

TII-AHOLIC:
Are those Advan A046? Off an Evo? What size and did you have to roll fenders? And what kinda paint did you use? Duplicolor? if so, was there a metal flake finish to it??

I was referring to the tires..lol.

Black91n/a 10-10-06 12:03 AM

Other than the colour I've now got the exact same setup. Mustang Gt wheels and Bridgestone RE070's. I just picked up the tires today, I paid a lot more, but they were basically brand new, you can still see the marks on the tread surface from the injection of the rubber when making of the tires. The guy bought the car in the winter and took the tires off right away to put snows on. I'll have to wait untill spring to use them, but my dad's freing with an STi loves them. Good grip, withstands track abuse well, and lasts quite long too for such a high performance tire. The NASIOC board is a good place to look for some slightly used ones.

My tires are not too bad, they still have 8/32nd tread left....about only 4000 miles on them so far. Let me tell you though man....i thought i put new springs in, thats how stiff the sidewalls are on these... you'll enjoy them! good choice. BUT like i said my fronts rub a little or a lot depending on my driving...

LOL funny story, the guy putting on the tires checked the size 3 times because he swore they were 16 inch tires because it wasn't sliding onto the rim, again really stiff sidewalls.

[QUOTE=drft_180sx]Hey thanks man, you must have been up at the meet @ bear mtn?? which one was your car?

I had the White SE. I was inbetween Anil's Vert and Larry's SE

twincannon26 10-10-06 10:23 AM

i saw this thread and i found this kinda odd, i have three things in common with you:

1. i used to run 03 cobra wheels on my turbo II. before that it was 95 gt wheels. (now its 300zx TT, they're lighter than cobras)

2. i painted my stock TII wheels bronze (they dont look near as good, what kind of clear is that?)

3. i just bought an 88 gxl the same color as yours last friday night.

your car looks amazing, i cant get over the color combo.

Hey thanks for the compliments...

I used Duplicolor High Performance Wheel Paint Clear. 1/2 bottle per wheel. 2 light coats, followed by a med/heavy coat. Do the back first, so you don't get overspray on the face of the rim. 10 mins or less in between coats, the clear went on about 30 minutes after the bronze.

You can get the clear at about any auto store, the bronze is a little harder to find, i found my 4 cans at autozone.

Wait til you see it lowered with some shineautoproject body pieces...i can't wait, but i will have to...cause my bank account is empty...

redlineracer 10-10-06 05:28 PM

You was at Bear Mountain. You parked next to me I have the red fc with the really clean engine bay. Your fc looks way better in person.

KeloidJonesJr. 10-10-06 06:02 PM

I like them, but the lug nuts need to go.

Hey thanks man, i wish my engine bay was as clean as yours, you did a real good job especially with the 5/6th port activation, etc...
