My n/a turbo project thread

well it's been a long time before i got where i am today with my 3 year old project.
I decided to go turbo but didn't want to do the turbo engine conversion,Wanted to do my custom fab so i followed Aaron Cake's threads to get more idea's for my n/a turbo and the only difference with my motor is the 93+ rotors in the 6port block and this motor is full bridgeported (same as Aaron's but the center plate is also bridgeported ) recently rebuilt with hurley racing apex seals
for now im still running the car on the n/a ecu runs fine starts right up no problems so far but i have some of the turbo parts like the wastegate,Haltech e6x,Blowoff valve till now, on the way is the ebay intercooler kit.
the intake manifold is a TII intake had the lower intake manifold port matched with the 6 port block some what like japan2la's lower intake manifold thanks to my friend for that.
general propose of the car is mostly drag racing and a daily driver.

the only things i would like to get suggestions on are:

1. fuel pump : been thinking of running a single or dual walbro 255lph pump(s) or the single denso supra pump.
2. the injectors : 4 1000cc injectors but i want to get some idea's from u guys on this one .
3. the turbo : been thinking of the t67 with the 1.00a/r for a fast spool and big power on the high end dont want to go with the .86 ar to small for the bridgeport.

here are some picture's of the parts that are already here:

only picture of the exterior right now, pretty much stock only difference now is the addition of the Hid kit and the Jdm mirrors will post a new picture tomorrow

if you guy's have any Question's or comment's or suggestions's for my project your welcome. thanks

sounds like you got everything planned out pretty good. Hows your drivetrain? rear end? Got a clutch lined up for this as well?

Yes pretty much 2 years of researching lead to this. the drive train is the stock Lsd diff the clutch is an 6 puck sprung clutch from racing beat thats about it for now.

A quick question do u guys think a hx50 with a 19cm turbine housing will be too much for this project or a hx40 with a 19cm housing found both for almost the same price just dont want too much lag. dont have the budget for a garret Gt BB series
the hx40 is gated but if i weld the gate shut and remove the mechanics would be ok. the hx50 is a non wg version  :ugh2:

hope to get some help on this one

1) Fuel pump, personally I would run a bosch 044. OEM quality, decent price but the sock for intank mounting is rather pricey

2) Fuel injectors - I personally run 750/1000's. The problem with running a combination that is really different in flow rates, IE 550/1600's, is that it's tough to tune for a smoother staging. Running 1000/1000 makes the staging easier but is rather difficult to tune for a smoother idle. The injector duty cycle is so small that it makes it difficult for the injector to fire such small qauntities consistantly which generally leads to irratic or retardedly rich idles.

3) No such thing as great spool and great top end, with one exception :suspect: I think the 1.00 a/r would be better for spool than top end with a full bridge but seeing as how this is a dual duty car, sacrifices have to be made on both ends.

i run 550's and 1600's and man is it hard to tune a transition.

also the e6x will have some ignition pickup troubles. just a warning for joo.

what is the hp rating for those pumps and the price range?
dont want the stock spool either just sumthing in the 4500rmp range.
so what do you think about the gated hx40 or hx50 just want 400hp at the most to get some 11 sec passes so i can compete over here both are 19cm housings im leaning towards the hx40 dont want a big turbo either and about the injectors 750/1000's are good for 400hp do you think ?
dont want the injectors to max out.

Fuel flow and HP ratings don't transfer well from where they are all rated (piston world) to rotary's. The thing to do is contact someone knowledgable and figure out what your goals are HP wise and get the appropriote injectors then the appropriote fuel pump. I went through Marren for my injectors assuming the same 400RWHP goal and Tim suggested the 750/1000 combo. Then figure your pressure rating and do a little math and look at what the pumps flow. For my setup I know the Bosch will do just fine. As far as price, no idea what it would cost in Aruba or if you could get an American Co to ship there. Jay Racing had the best prices last time I checked.

I'm not familiar with either of those turbo's

Haltech is well known to have ignition troubles. IMO the software is weak which only compounds problems caused by marginal wiring. There's a TON of info on them.

Or ditch Haltech all together and go PFC or even better - Motec. Look into the M2R. Lower model tailored to Rotary's. I've never heard of one ignition problem with a Motec

well its been a couple of day's without updates for you guys
it seems the holset turbo's have been sold so now i'm looking at the following turbo options : t04b with 1.15a/r turbine housing and the ta45 with 1.22 a/r housing
