is my motor blown

i was driving my car earlier its a streetported 13b turbo i just installed a new wiring harness last night and it was driving great went and washed it at the quater car wash pulled out kinda got on it to get in front of traffic. then it just started running like shit. drove it down the street to my house made it back had it idling then died. i then looked around everything looked normal no leaks or anything so i assumed the worse pulled out the compression tester and by now my car is cooled down and will not start for the life of it and i got 60 psi for the front and rear rotor idk if its just low for only having about 75 miles on the motor or should it still be really low .:uhh:

TyFc3s 12-11-11 01:35 AM

sorry, sounds like it might have took a poop.. 60 is low, and a new motor has no reason to have low compression, it should be very high (healthy) compression. You shouldn't ever beat on a new motor like that, but as long as it wasn't sitting at 9 grand it should be fine for a quick 6 grand burst out of a car wash.. i would maybe take it back to the guy who built it, or take it apart to see if anything was put together wrong...

dwb87 12-11-11 01:39 AM

A newly rebuilt engine needs to build compression... Even after 75 miles. Don't freak out just yet.

If you've been trying to start it over and over and over, it may just be heavily flooded. Deflood and try to start it tomorrow. You really should baby an engine for the first 800-1,500 miles. (Depending on the build.)

boostkeepsmesane7 12-11-11 01:39 AM

dammnnnnn ya i think i fucked up gonna have to sell it now unfortunatly dont got the time or money to tear it back down this blows but i knew better so i shouldnt of been the dumbass i am and babyed it

RotaryEvolution 12-11-11 02:11 AM

could also be a faulty injector clip on your "new" harness.

boostkeepsmesane7 12-11-11 03:12 AM

yea thatd be sweet ill check it out in the morning i really hope its not blown

Molotovman 12-11-11 06:22 AM

De-flood it, Throw some oil in the housings, check everything over and try again.

boostkeepsmesane7 12-11-11 03:12 PM

So i pulled my uim and fuel rails and it was sitting all night and my secondary injectors where still really wet with fuel. so im thinkin maybe there stuck open because when i pull my plugs after deflooding it for a good 2 minutes where still covered in fue.l put my compression tester on it agin today and it was reading about 70 psi on both rotors today. jw how likely would it be if they got stuck open just getting on it could that be a possibility.

RotaryEvolution 12-11-11 03:18 PM

if they weren't serviced it is a possibility.

strap the injectors to the rails, jumper the yellow test connector at the RF strut tower, turn the ignition key to on and see if any of the injectors are leaking.

boostkeepsmesane7 12-12-11 10:39 AM

Okay I haven't checked see if my injectors are stuck open yet. But I gotta question about a faulty injector clip how would that go bad even after it was running so good. Because when I put that new harness in it was a complete different car it would idle below 1000 rpm unlike before. And if I back probe the ecu at the injector wires would that be able to tell me if there stuck open?

Do EXACTLY what Karack had mentioned... It's a sure fire way to see if your injectors are stuck open. There's an illustration of this in the 87' FSM. "Fuel and Emission Control Systems" 4B-74

If you do not have a Factory Service Manual, here's a link to some FSM links: https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...18#post5131218

Stuck no, but it would tell you if the clip was loose or not. The Light Green wires shoud have 12 volts w/key to on and if they don't then one of the possibilities is the clip is loose.

boostkeepsmesane7 12-12-11 01:34 PM

Alright I defiantly plan on doing wat karack said to do just gotta wait for the weekend only time I have to work on it. If they are stuck open wat would've caused that to happen and wat should I do to fix it.

RotaryEvolution 12-12-11 01:43 PM

if they're leaking or stuck open then send them out to be serviced. injectors stick from sitting open to the atmosphere as the gas dries it turns to varnish and sticks the pintle in the bore.

Just pull the plugs and the EGI fuse and crank it. If the pulses are even it's not blown.

just did that and it dosnt sound like the pulses are even this blows im such a dumbass :( but ill post some vids of the compression test and see if i can get a good quality sound video with the pulses so i can get an opinion later tonight. also checked to see if my injectors where leaking nothing was coming out. but its been sitting for about a week and the injectors where all wet with fuel still.

Why are you dumb? Shit happens. Just try to figure out what happened. Can you remove the exhaust manifold and use a mirror and flashlight to peek into the ports and inspect the apex seals?

just i knew better than to get on it like that but my stupid led foot lol. but yea thats exactly wat i was thinking about doin but its cold out tonight and my heater is outta kerosine lol .

also if it is a broken apex seal and sense it is all pretty much rebuild would i still be able to reuse my side seals and all the springs and just get new apex seals as long as the springs are all there and can i reuse the coolant gaskets or should i just get new ones anyway if i rebuild it.

It depends what's broken. You might need a housing. It is possible you only have to replace one apex seal. If the coolant seals were recently replaced they can be reused. It's a little tricky to stuff the stretched out outer coolant seal back into the groove but it can be done.

boostkeepsmesane7 12-16-11 09:23 PM

yea im hopin its a apex seal i just got these housing ported it would suck if it was but like u said shit happens but im hopin for the best!

boostkeepsmesane7 12-16-11 11:57 PM
