my money pit will not start...
 

ok im looking for some good advise.... i havent even owned this car for a year and i am balls deep in a build... i have spent every cent on it... and its driving me insane...

facts:
87 rx7 TII
engine rebuild large street port..
1600cc secondaries(new) 550 primaries(new)
power fc..( tuner guy helping me kind of)
wideband
boost gauge
fmic
bov
corksport rad

i guess not all of that is important..but

my car will not start...often ? it has run twice , once for an hour and second time for about 30min...then flood every time after that

im having a flooding issue...the guy doing my tuning in the drive way has the injector % set to its minimum on start up and it still floods...
i have a fuel cutt off switch..
i thought maybe injectors were stuck open..so then i bought new prim ( had the sec already )

i have a new fuel pump just looks like its gunna be a fun day putting it in...

so im trying to think of where else i could be going wrong... i was thinking that it might be the stock fpr. maybe the diaphram or w.e is inside it is cracked or something ? i dont no im just trying to figure it out with me clearly limited knowledge...

Is this a rebuild with new seals on old housings? What fuel pump are you using? Did you wire up the primary and secondary injectors correctly?

I am not an expert, but to my knowledge, your engine is not broken in obviously.

The S4 doesn't have the deflood method the S5 does unfortunately, but you can disconnect the fuel pump relay and deflood the engine. Worst case scenario, you have to take the plugs out and deflood that way, then I would suggest you drive the car, give it some load and not exceed 4,000rpm.

the problem is it doesnt run..... yes i went through them when we were trying to figure out the issue... but i no about the break in... and i have deflooded it like 20times now... by pulling the plugs..but im stuck... i was thinking maybe my stock fpr is busted and just pushing tons of fuel in.... but i dont no how to test it..
and its a walbro 255 but i dont think i can get the bolts out to get at the stock pump in the tank...there fucked and rusty as shit but will see...

any more ideas ?

leaky injectors perhaps.
In the PowerFC, your coolant/air fuel corrections might be WAY off.
Is your BAC still installed? This sounds more like a PFC issue, but would look at the leaky injectors first.

If you test the fuel pressure properly it will give you some insight into whether your FPR is working up to speed or not.

well i had an adjustable mounted..but just bypassing the stock one...so i could see i was getting pressure...and the injectors are all brand new.....

and i also had a guy come down twice with a computer to do some adjustments on the pfc....

so could it be because i bypassed the stock fpr but still ran a fuel line through it ?
( trying to find a fitting for the fuel rail to just get rid of the stock fpr)

and no no bac..all block off plates installed

Some people who have problems in starting their car possibly due to too much fuel upon start up will remove pin 3B from the ECU which forces the AFM to govern how much fuel is used during start up as opposed to using one of the two start maps.

Your fuel pressure should be close to 30. If it's higher then you run the risk of too much fuel being delivered. Disconnect the hose "after" the fuel filter and "T" in a fuel pressure gauge and get a reading.

ok is there anyway to check the stock fpr? with it out or w.e i just took it out tonight to try find a fitting but ... i cant tell if its messed up or not..

ok back for more... im still not running... i removed the factory resistor box for injectors...and put in a FJO now i also have all 4 injectors new.. im going to get a AN fitting tommrow to remove the factory fpr....

i tried yesterday with a friend some tunning knowledge on his part... ( pfc )
and some ether ( starting fluid) and it only kicked and went to 2000 once...then died...so we went from 45% fuel to 150% and no go....

i think its a fuel issue..but i have new filter injectors..fjo..some lines..basicly everything i guess...except the frp...

any other ideas? anything ill try anything

Before saying "oh, the motor must be blown" I would remove the ECU and inspect it thoroughly. From experience, a bad ecu usually has physical signs of damage since it is 1980's technology. I would yank the ECU and inspect it.

Definately get rid of that stock FPR and put hook up the aftermarket one right. That will eliminate that variable...

I would check the tune.

pfc, and it works. put it in another car and it fired up, i didnt say blown motor ? its brand new....

and i have had a guy here 3 times changing things for the tune...but i am thinkin its something in the engine bay like something i fucked up ...

and i have been trying to find a fitting....hopefully by the end of the week.

yes when i had the adjustable in with the stock one, i did have pressure...

Was the pressure reading close to 30 as it should be?
