My Mods List...What To Do Next?

Here is what I've done so far on my 91 n/a 5 speed:
-Weapon R Cold Air intake
-Air Box
-CAP Clutch
-Removed A/C, Air Pump, Spare tire,
-Wired Open 5th and 6th ports and VDI in high RPM position
-Strut Tower Brace
-RB Header and Presilencer
-Racing A SS N1 Spec single muffler

So, what next? I am looking at two different paths:
-Suspension
-Fuel

Suspension:KYB AGX Shocks, Suspension Techniques Springs, RB Front sway bar

Fuel:550cc primary injectors, 750 secondaries, Walbro fuel Pump, S-AFC

What to do next? Thanks guys!!!

Any help?

I would say if the fuel isn't a necessity right now, that you should get the suspension first.

Put the spare tire back. Walking sucks.

vaughnc 03-11-02 04:50 PM

fuel's only good with a port & better chip. Otherwise no power gains (actually some loss from running rich).

rico05 03-11-02 04:51 PM

Very funny Felix!! Anyone else? Or if you have a different recomendation from other than what I am thinking, please share!!

jimmyv13 03-11-02 04:52 PM

I'd go with suspension, 550 pri/750 sec are a bit too much w/o any porting. Maybe 550 secondaries for now, but I don't think you need it yet.

You have a bunch of go-fast mods, but do you have good components to stop your ride?

rico05 03-11-02 04:53 PM

Oh yeah, good point! Any ideas for brake upgrades?

menace 03-11-02 05:00 PM

well if u go for bigger brakes ur need bigger wheels... and if u want REALLY BIG big wheels then ull need a wide body kit up front.. but if u get a wide body up front ull need to kit the WHOLE car so that the look flows better... then if u get ect ect ect.. LOL :D

jimmyv13 03-11-02 05:07 PM

Hawk pads, and good tires. I wouldn't worry about slotted or drilled rotors, IMO, I don't think they're worth it.

bcty 03-11-02 05:51 PM

dont go with bigger injectors... an n/a does not need them.. i was stupid back then and got t2 injectors for my car.. i noticed a slight decline in preformance and the only time where it felt better was above 230km/h so... dont even bother!!! go with suspension... upgrade what rx7's were made to do!!

Bambam7 03-11-02 07:58 PM

I would get the RB suspension kit- it's pretty cool- sway bars and springs. about 600 bucks though.

You don't need any fuel upgrades. I have a ported engine, and I'm getting the most power by taking up to 10% off of my 460 injectors with my S-AFC!! No streetable N/A will need bigger injectors. (unless bridgeport at 10,000 rpm's- then it might need it)

The AFC is a good choice- you can gain up to20hp, but it's expensive, finicky to get to work properly, and you need a dyno and/or wideband o2.

An electric fan frees up a lot of space under the hood, and a bit of hp.
I would get take your 6 port sleeves out, and get the pinapple racing sleeves. They are real cheap, and work well.

Port your intake manifold- there's lots of pics here on that.

Get some poly bushings- and the rear-steer eliminators for the back- those really tighten things up.

#1- Fix everything that's broken first! (it's an rx-7, there has to be SOMETHING!) Clean injectors, etc. Throw on a few grounds.

I'll let you know when I get around to making that VDI actuator....

There is no advantage to using bigger injectors or a upgraded fuel pump on a NA until you get to the porting the motor stage.

In fact you will more than likely loose HP adding them to the set up you have now

Stepdaddy 03-11-02 09:56 PM

lmfao @ Put the spare tire back. Walking sucks. your damn right it does, whats even worse is when you have the spare but no jack

You won't need any fuel mods at all.

Thats the setup on my car minus the S-AFC (I'm broke), and I run 12 psi :)

hawk hps pads, ss lines, shocks/springs. some bushings if you don't mind the work!

rico05 03-13-02 01:55 AM

Well, I am getting the KYB AGX shocks package. Then the RB package, then the S-AFC. Thanks guys!!!!

mguire 03-13-02 02:52 AM

Don't forget the TB mod, it's free and good for at least 5 HP, plus more responsive!

wai 03-13-02 06:08 AM

shocks ,springs ,short shifter,
spark plug wire ,body kit,how about supercharger.....

rico05 03-13-02 09:45 AM

Short shifter? Wires? Body Kit? I want a fast car, not a rice car! j/k My shifter throws are short enough, I just put new NGK wires on a month ago, and a body kit?!?!? I don't own a Hon-duh!!! And the supercharger...NEVER!!!! Proud to be forced induction free! I plan on making this car the fastest I can! If I can get in lots of trouble with a little N/A, imagine how quickly I would be dead w/ boost!!

leave the stock injectors and get a Safc, that is all you need. Fine tuning what you have should be first.
