So my 87 N/A commited suicide about a month ago I have since been presented a few options sell the car outright part it out or throw in a new power plant most likely one of the LS family. So if I sell the car in the non running condition I'm thinking 800 is a reasonable price with the engine still in the car deff is well worth over that, no? I mean the racing beat exhaust is from the header all the back and was 1000+ new.

Depending on exactly what the problem is the price would vary. I just sold my 87 with the RB exhaust as well, and it had a blown engine. I sold the car and the exhaust separately, but I got $1500. You should ask for $2000, being the absolute maximum. You probably wont get that, but that is what haggling is for. Start at 2k. Don't sell it for anything lower than $1200 I would say. Your minimum number should depend on how much it would cost to fix. Also consider selling the exhaust and the car separate. Lower numbers make people feel better when they buy something.

problem is no one gives 2 shits about the car with the exhaust, people will give half a shit about a blown motor car OR the exhaust system. i have a hard time seeing anyone getting more than $1000 for a blown non turbo FC. |

Plus, someone like me would buy car with a blown motor for $1200, drop in another one for $600 and still get my money's worth. A decent running s4 goes for $3k maximum. For $1800 you have a decent car, and a solid engine. |

The body on the car is excellent condition that's really the only reason I can justify asking that much besides the fact that used iron and housings are a small fortune themselves car has quite a bit of money invested into it as well so other then the engine being a gayfish and the driver side door handle needing to be replaced the car is immaculate but then again it's been one of my prized possessions for a whole now so I could also just be biased I think I will be pulling the exhaust though so if anyone wants it bows your chance to get it before its put up elsewhere I will probably also pull the motor to sell for parts

All rotary owners should already know that. My point is, all you have to do is look. A properly maintained engine will last, which is why mine didn't. The price may vary slightly, and you might get less life out of it, but it IS possible to find an engine cheaply which will run fine, and for a long time.

People who want the car will probably not want to pay for the exhaust. The price is definitely wrong. Sell the exhaust separately, then sell the car. Also post sales in the proper section. I've paid between $250-$500 for RUNNING NA FCs. Good luck with the sale.

Complete... Top to bottom (Throttle Body to Oil pan) Front to back (Fan to Clutch Pressure Plate) and wiring harness... Ready to drop into the car. Cold start video showed no smoke. (Good oil control rings) Compression numbers were around 112-114 on all six rotor faces at 275 RPM with a warm engine. Another member came all the way to Woodbridge, VA from Jersey to get it. |
but you just never know when someone will bone you.
had someone sell me a core motor, without an actual compression test it sounded fine doing a rotational bench test. once i cracked it open it had a broken seal, i could not hear the difference because there was oil that had pooled up in the housings from sitting. of course i only paid $50 delivered for it. :) |

I got 3 fc verts for 1200. I got my turboII for free and a super clean base shell for free. I sold one vert for 500 it was basically junk with a good motor. The other two verts i sold for 1500 both ran very good but had bad tops. I sold my turboII for 800 with a blown engine and the super clean base model for 500.

i've gotten a S4 SE and a S5 GXL for free. paid less than $1k for my TII and bought an S4 vert with a bad motor and a brand new $1900 paint job for $350.
right now i'm looking for a rolling shell to build a shop car, how much would i pay for it? nothin, i'd be doing someone a favor. :) |
Well thanks for the input but it sold for $800 all intact and if you ask me that's a good price for the buyer with all he's getting with it I mean the chassis alone should be worth atleast that there's no rust or damage and it's original paint so whatev
