my idea
i am thinking of doing my own porting on my spare 13b block. its a six port . but i was thinking of eliminating the six port and combining the 2 intak ports and making the ports on the walls bigger.has this been done, is it a good idea and is there any links about it .
need guidance really want to see how much power i can get goin n/a and cheaply thanx |
go to the Tech and performance section and search for "porting" ... there are a million and a half threads about this

You lose a lot of low end to sacrifice for more top end.
I dunno if you can call this "cheap" as this requires a REBUILD. -Ted |
no i kno that but instead of wasting money sending it out to be ported id rather port it myself and money wise ima be spend it on rebuild kit block off plates and the porting tools

With ports so large you lose all intake velocity and end up with an engine that makes power above 9000 RPM. Also, there is some question about seal support with such a large port. Some say that the little bridge between the ports is necessary to support the side seals.

so wat if i just eliminate the six port so it stays open all the time will it be the same thing? im sorry im new at this i just want to experiment

Wiring open the ports results in a major low-end torque loss, and no upper end improvement.
