My friggin body shop!
I busted my butt last week doing all the prep work on my car and fitting the kit so I could have the paint finished by the end of this week. I have a show tomorrow (saturday the 3rd) that this car was registered for.
So at noon I go out to pick my car up. I didn't have time to do all the body work so I had them finish up little things like door dings. Well, they didn't. They friggin painted the doors right over the door dings! The guy I was with didn't let me take the car. He said to leave it so they would be pressured to fix it (smart thinking). The manager was not there so I call him later. And said "what the hell is with my doors!!!!". He had to go look. He says "oh, looks like they missed some dings". I was pissed. Oh well, crap happens I guess. But the color is amazing I think. I had them mix me up a custom color. It's a dark silver/charcoal/pewter color with a lot of metalic. I'm not usually fond of metalic, but I thought what the heck. The color is great. I get the car back on tuesday now. I'll post some pics when I get it back. |
Guess you should have busted more ass on the doors!!

Well I let them finish up what I didn't. I am by no means a body man. I've done one car before....
It's not really my job to do something when I pay some one else to do it, ya know.... |
oh well, just park out in the middle of nowhere to avoid door dings. :D sounds like a really cool color. I wanna see pics :D

Lets see some pics
That kinda sucks, but at least the bodyshop was nice about it. A lot of time they can be asses about stuff. Maybe it is just I am so picky. |
Ya, I try very hard to impress upon shops how picky I am during an estimate process. Sometimes they may even suggest you go somewhere else because they think they aren't up to it- I actually appreciate this. If you rally want it done right you gotta do it yourself!

I have no intentions of making a show car or anything of that nature. It's an old Japanese sports car. I felt this route with paint was the best for me. But at any rate.... The car will look good and clean. :) |
Suggestion for future use:
1.Take a SHARPIE marker and circle & number all the dings you want the body shop to repair. 2.Take a digital pic of each panel, showing the circled & numbered dings 3. Print out these pics and provide a COPY of them to the body sop when you write the estimate ang when you drop of the car. 4. When you pic up the car, come back with your copy and verify all work has been performed as described in the Written estimate. Make sure you get a copy of the estimate and you have a firm delivery date with a "performance clause" written in. |

Well, if you can't make your show in Portland, bring your car up to the"Cruz", Aug 11th in Port Orchard. We've got about 14 rotary cars/trucks so far coming(some from Oregon.) The Cruz has 700+ cars. Driving directions, etc posted in this forum or email: wdwflash@aol.com attn: car show

Its all freeway driving, right to Port Orchard. There's a State park(right on the water) a couple miles from the show/festival.(camping/trailer spots) We've got two or three cars coming from the Oregon area. For more info you can go to the Saints web site at: Saintscarclub.org.

Went to the body shop today to look at what they had done with it since the last time I saw it.... I found a couple bad spots. And he said "f-it, I'll just repaint the thing!"
I'm not really bitching here. Just am finding it kind of humerous now. I was never expecting an A-1 top notch job, but jeez. Do they like wasting paint and time at their cost? :) As I said before, it WILL look good. :D |
My car is goin in for the mazdaspeed front lip (well, the CS mold of it) and some nameless sideskirts I found in a revspeed mag that I imported (yen to $ is SO good now). They are also re-spraying the '91 nose I put on a couple years back and cutting out the grille for that drifter look with the lip spoiler. Too bad I don't have a big FMIC (or a turbo) :) I'll post pics, nobody has seen my car in years and I think you'll all like it a LOT...
