My first swap. s5 into a s4. advice appreciated

Hey guys I've finally got around to doing my first RX7 project and I'd like to do as much of it myself as I can. I have a Haynes manual and plenty of spare time but not a huge budget to pay some to do everything.

Links or advice to any questions would be much appreciated

I have a 87 TII that I will be putting a Jspec s5 engine, transmission and ecu into.

I searched the Archives and couldn't find anything on how to redo the wiring to make all the electrical stuff work that needs to be modded. I've herd that is not difficult to do but I just haven't found anything on the topic of a s4 to s5 swap.

This may be a silly question but can I use my s4 TII wiring harness with my s5 engine and ecu? Or would it not match up to the engine/ecu properly?

If anyone has done this swap and can list any problems I might run into or things that I should keep in mind about this project that would be great.

I am sure there are plenty of other links. Just have to look for them.

sure its possible but you are either a) 'putting a bunch of s4 parts on an s5' or b) putting a bunch of s5 parts on an s4.

none of the electrical is interchangeable so that means either swap all s5 wiring to s4 shell or swap all s4 wiring to s5 engine.

pick one.

Most things are possible given enough time, research, money, etc. Being your first ever swap, it would be advisable to get the S4 TII electronics to make your swap much much much easier. You will need to swap the OMP to an S4 model as well.

The money spent on the electronics will be less than the time and frustration that you will face by using the S5 electronics. One more thing...... The s4 TII electronics are cheaper and easier to find because they are more abundant than the S5 TII parts in the USDM.

Thanks guys but my rotary mechanic said its easy to do and just a little rewiring so I'm gonna end up letting him do it. No need to swap s4 on to s5 or s5 on to s4 lol I bought a swap out of a JDM clip so I got my fingers crossed. I'll do a write up on my project once it is complete
