Title is self explanatory. i was bored one day and decided i'd mess with my hood. got on CAD and drew up the plan. the next day went out and cut away and this is how it turned out after i painted it. o ya i left the rivets visable. im not sure how i like it with visable rivets, kind of gives it a aircraft appearance which is cool. pitch in your opinion if you'd like. i also have an engine bay pic thrown in from this winters progress. any questions ask

NICE me likey....

I bet when you park the car that scoop just dumps the heat out...nice work

Also - GM alternator for the win!

cool_as_crap 07-14-06 03:56 PM

that....looks fuckin awsome man! very good work. and i like the rivets, ads a nice touch.
also, thats a clean as engine bay. looks very good.

Pretty cool.

Get some hardpipe for your IC though! oh and a raditaor panel would most likely help cooling as well :)

R_PROWESS 07-14-06 03:57 PM

o ya no doubt, it cools so much better now. once im moving out of idle the electric fan never even kicks on, a well worth it mod if you ask me. and yes the gm alt is another mod im proud of! lol good eye

2RICE4U 07-14-06 03:57 PM

I like it, the rivets dont look to to bad:)

o ya man no doubt i need to invest in everythign you just said. i just put the shop vac hose on there for break in while not under boost, i wouldnt trust it not to melt of lose pressure under more of a load haha. the radiator panel is my next fabrication mod

nope prety close though, just a hair off. its krylon fusion blue, which i hear is called signal blue, the strut tower bar connected to the fire wall i powdercoated in signal blue and is an exact match to krylon fusion blue

classicauto 07-14-06 04:07 PM

I like the plate you made between the strut bar and firewall....adds a bit of ridgdity and class in one nice blue package - hehe.

Neat car - Im assuming by the lack of TII hood and lack of sunroof that this was an N/A conversion?

Very clean setup, you detailed that engine bay like a champ i've never seen anything that unique, the plate is definit nice touch. Tell me more baout the GM alternator, whats the deal with that? Cheaper, stronger, does it drop in?

i did the gm alternator because they are cheep and this one is 105 as opposed to the 70 amp i think it is? stock. i needed the upgraded amp due to the e-fan. this alternator pulls plenty of amp at lower rpms assuring i get have enough for the cold cranking of the electric motor at idle and to run everthing els. i purchased that alternator for 35 dollars at a junk yard minus 10 dollar core i gave him. so basicly 25 dollars. i took it apart powder coated it and before assembly i had it rebuilt at a auto-electric shop here in town for 20 dollars just to make sure everything would work right. it took boaring out of the pully to fit on the alternators shaft other than that it droped in for me

staticguitar313 07-14-06 04:30 PM

which model cars is this alt off of?

classicauto 07-14-06 04:33 PM

No modding of the mounting locations? wicked.....

no there were no mounting location modings heres a closer pic as you can see the gm alt has only 1 arm that connects to the coolant neck as opposed to the two that stock has. i have had no integrity problems like the alt breaking at the arm or any of that it seems very durable and sturdy

classicauto 07-14-06 04:46 PM

Dude you just made my f%&$ing day - could you post a wiring quickie please? Im sooo going to do this.

staticguitar313 07-14-06 04:47 PM

how is it wired up?
does it need to see 12 volts when off or 0?

R_PROWESS 07-14-06 04:54 PM

ill have to get back to you on that my father wired it and he is at the county fair right now. ill ask him and then let you know but it was very easy to wire just make sure you get the connector when you get the alternarot that goes with it. the rx conector to the rx alternator wont plug in ill let you kno more when the wiring guy gets back

Unseen24-7 07-14-06 04:57 PM

what kind of e-fan is that, and what is the CFM on it.

staticguitar313 07-14-06 04:57 PM

Cool thanks alot, sure beats dropping money on an Fd alt, and once again clean car, great attention to detail, you couls post more pics of the rest of that beast

Cwaters 07-14-06 05:01 PM

Dude, what shocks are those... looks like they'd hit the hood :)
