My clutch pedal POPPED IN !
Hey guys,
so i was driving and merging in the highway when all of sudden my clutch pedal stayed pushed in. And i couldn't shift. It just sunked in and didn't have play to pop out. i don't know its the master cylinder or the slave cylinder or the pin that attaches the pedal. Has this happen to any one ? when i checked it out the fluid was really bad and the car was sitting for 4days in cold weather you think it fluid probl froze and it when i pushed the pedal it gave... Thanks in the advance for the feedback. |
They're cheap enough that you should replace both the master and the slave, regardless of which one it was that failed. You probably won't know which one it was until you take them off, as usually the fluid collects in the boot or leaks behind the cylinder. Replace your hydraulics and you'll be good to go. Also a good time to replace the softline as well.

mines stayed in one time when I was turning across and intersection, usually I shift in 2nd right when I am in the middle of the intersection turning but the clutch wont come back up!! and I just coast to the side.
Normally when the clutch stays down its the master cylinder that goes. But you should replace both. |

Mine did that once. Thought it was hydraulic. But the clutch stayed engaged and had shattered in a million pieces and seized in the engaged position. :) But start with hydraulics. Master and Slaves are easy and cheap to come by. The Autozone special will work fine. Just stay away from the "rebuild kits" dont waste your time.

should i go with OEM replacement or is there a brand you might recommend? so i will be replacing the Master Cylinder and the Slave Cylinders with their lines too ! Black Knight RX7 FC3S : okay thanks. i will. clokker : True. so that wasnt the problem than. But the clutch fluid was soo thick and black idont know if that played a role. |

how did it shattered your clutch ? will the clutched engaged affect my clutch ? |

Be sure to check your clutch hydraulic hose as well. Your hydraluic cylinders could be all right, but that hose could have rotted through leaking all your fluid out.
Listen to everybody else here, replace the slave cyl, master cyl, and the cluthc line. Japan2LA is selling SS clutch lines in the 2nd Gen FS section for $25 shipped. I think mazdatrix is about the same price maybe $1 cheaper shipped. |
Molotovman : NICE. Thanks for the info. Yea im going to play it safe and replace both of the cylinders and the lines.
the lines that goes to the slave cylinder i may add ? 1SWEET7 : Your right. non of that rebuilt stuff makes sense to replace it with the new one. Thanks guys for the info. Now i have to store the rx7 for couple months cause school and work takes a lot of time until late april. any storing tips? |
