you MUST own a rx7 it happens to them all. I live without it. you can fix it but doesn't your stereo have one??

Prolly something loose. Here's a weird hint... If you pull the cigar lighter fuse, the clock loses its display, BUT! when you plug it back in, it shows the correct time! Perhaps this will help you identify the circuit in question. Mine is a 1990 T2, it might be different on other models

Pretty common if there is cold solder joint in the warning/clock assembly.

Pop up the trim panel sliding it towards the rear of the car.

Two screws (one on each side) on the assembly bolting it into the dash.

It will pull out about 4 or 5 inches, reach behind and unplug it.

Three screws in the assembly (long one in the middle). Once the screws are out, re-solder the pins where the plug meets the circuit board.

reassemble and plug in, test with key in on position (before screwing back in). All the lights should light up as well as the clock should come on.

If it works, screw everything back in.

i know but it drives me nuts and my auto seat belt will not go back i dont know if its a fuse or not

The Auto seat belt thing is a problem that is under a recall. Go to any Mazda dealer and they'll fix it for free every time.

Cory
regular old manual seatbelts :)

I don't know about that seatbelt recall, Cory. My brother has an RX-7 with auto seatbelts, he took it to mazda because he had problems with them. The guy said there was never a recall on them and that the total would be $400!

My clock would reset to 1:00 every other day or so. Now it has worked for about 3 months without reset. RX7s are posessed. Some things fix themselves.

Well, I don't know first hand but...
I'd try another dealer or call around because I've heard SEVERAL people talking about getting them fixed for free.
I believe there IS a recall

The seat belt recall is legit. Its the retract assembly/motor in the doors. Life of vehicle recall. Original 90 GTU had three replaced under recall. Replacement 90 GXL also had one replaced under recall. Find Mazda recall on the internet.
