My Car Died
 

Well It happened at work. I was going to lunch when it happened, I started my car and it rose to 3000 rpm and then bubbububububububub I thought shit it must be one of those cheap spark plug wires the car had so I turned it off and checked the wires, they seemed to be fine. So I started it again and the same condition. So I limped it back to my shop to do a compression check. Front rotor had good compression. But when I put the gauge on the back rotor the needle on the gauge didn't even move. Rear Rotor DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now What do you recommend I do? Buy a motor from Japan, rebuild my motor, or just set it on fire............ :flamed:

Rebuild your motor if you're capable, if not, give a call down to kevin landers @ Rotary Ressurection (sp?). If you get a J-spec motor, plan on having it completely rebuilt before you can use/trust it.

I can rebuild the motor but what I'am going to spend on a overhaul kit I can just buy a jap motor. I thought those jap motors were in good shape? One more question should my motor have lasted longer? 156,000 miles-87'-Non turbo. By the way I was going to make my 6-port turbo and now that it went to shit I was thinking about geting the japan turbo engine. I have all the parts to make it turbo.

I've never dealt with a jspec engine, but just from hanging out on the forum for a few years, it seems like your luck is about 40/60 against with those things. I'd say you have a 60% chance of them failing in the first year after installation. A lot of them were abused and/or left to sit for a few years (worse than abused).

If you're goign to go for a Jspec anything, I'd get it in as a core, and hope it's rebuildable. Tear it down before it ever goes in your car.

As for an overhaul kit, it all depends on what's wrong/damaged. Only one way to find out: open it up.

This saturday I'am going to rip it out and take it apart to check for any damage to the the rotor and housings. Could you get me any of those parts in case they are damaged. I want to get the car up and running asap I already miss driving it and its only been two days. Thanx
