is my boost gauge acurate???
 

i need to know if my boost gauge is acurate...i have an autometer ultra light...

here are my mods

race pipe
bonez intake
fcd
super afc
boost guage
air/fuel guage
manual boost controller

Before, with just the intake and race pipe, I would spike a little over 10psi in third and fourth and then it would hold a consistent 9 psi, it would show 10psi in fourth on a cold night.

I just put in a really high quality manual boost controller and I have it set to the lowest setting and now my boost spools up REALLY REALLY fast, im hitting "supposedly" 8psi in first, in second it spikes almost to 12psi and stays at 10, and in third and fourth it spikes easily to 12 maybe 13, and stays a pretty consistent 10 or 11 psi.... The thing it, I have the stock fuel pump, and Im running my afc about 3% richer at all rpms at "high throttle" and my air/fuel guage is still showing rich....im not hitting any yellow at all even though, it supposodly spikes to 12 psi in 3rd and 4th?? Do you think the autometer guage is off a little bit when it hits those high boost numbers?? My air guage is accurate, because If i tune my afc up or down, I can see the difference between lean and rich, I would just assume If I was rreally spiking 12 psi and holding 10-11 in fourth gear that I might run a little into the yellow even though my afc is tuned up 3%....any ideas..?? I personally think that my boost guage is a little off and im I migh spike to 11psi max on a cold night and its holding a consisten 9-10 psi in the higher gears.....It should start to run lean.... unless 3% on the super afc adds a lot of fuel....

However, i've heard that the stock fuel system can handle quite a bit of horsepower..... and 10-11 psi is only 2-2.5 psi above what the stock ecu thinks, which I ques is probably easily fine with having a super afc.....

is the boost controller turned up or just set at min? is it a ball and spring one? a good ball and spring should not spike.

the ecu doesn't think at all with the FCD... stock fuel system is safe for 8psi. bigger fuel pump 10-12psi.

but to answer your question the only way to tell if it's right is to hook up a 2nd one that is and compare. who knows maybe you're running 13psi.

And how long are you letting it stay at the higher boost? A boost spike can be so fast it won't show up in the A/F reading w/ o2 sensor driven gauge. My TII doesn't start to lean out at full boost in 5th untill I hold it at full throttle long enough to get to 130-140mph, though that doesn't take long at all.
