my blower stopped working (heat, etc) -pulled dash
 
My blower stopped working, like it totally doesnt blow any air at all, when i turn the air on, all i hear is a little click on the passenger side behind the dash. So i Pulled the dash (using directions from a thread on the forum :))

MY question is before i start working on in, has anybody ever had this problem before, and whatd you do about it? Again, it just suddenly stopped working after car was in subzero temperaturs, i donno if that had anything to do with it. anyways thanks

WTF are you pulling the whole dash for? The blower motor is under the passenger footwell, and is easliy accessible from there.


BTW I have one for sale.

Lol it said in a thread i had to pull the dash to get to the blower and AC. And I was going to remove the AC. so sorry that i pulled my dash? thanks

The blower motor seems to be fine, i removed the blower and tested it with 12v and it started right up, so i reconnected it, and the the blower wont blow, the only thing that happens is the vent on the blower just opens and closes over and over again no matter what the logicon is set to, I find this odd.. does this rule out the relay or logicon?

Yeah, if the interior air/ exterior air keeps moving, then that points to something blown or shorted in the Logicon.

Sometimes when the logicon gets old, screws break off the front panel and can short out the boards.

I don't think it is the themo fuse as Cloead is suggesting as you said if you jumper the blower plug the blower blows fine.

what the FUCK is going on, today sucks ass. So i took my logicon apart, and i was really gentle with it (ive built several computers and handled alot of computer type things:)) and inspected it, nothing on it was "fried" or anytyhing I didnt check the connecter pins, but I put it back together and plugged it in and turned the car on... no lights, nothing at all, what the fuck is this bullshit im getting really frusterated and am starting to feel helpless. I hear people say "rebuild it" Whats the process to rebuild a logicon..

Well when I rebuild one, I replace the Transistors (or mosfets depending on model), and a couple of diodes (D4, D5 and D6). If I am replacing the indicator LEDs with Violet, blue or green, then I will also replace about 10 resistors, (and of course the LEDs if the indicator color is being changed and new light bulbs at that time).

Then I also remove all the solder on the control panel and on the main board at the harness and plug connections, and flow new solder into the joints. I test the boards on the bench at this point.

Then when I re-assemble, I use ABS cement on all the screws to help prevent the crack out of the screws.

Then plug in a working blower amp (that's the black box on the back of the logicon) and test in a car.

Some people have had luck just flowing new solder in on the control board, but I have generally found about half the time to be related to something on the main board.

If you want, you can send me your logicon, and $8 to cover shipping and I will check yours out for you. If something is messed up I'll email you and let you know, but if it is okay, I'll just send it back with a note.

All I know is my blower also worked fine when I applied 12v to it, and the problem he has is exactly the same as the one I had.. =/ Doesn't hurt to check.

So if you jumped 12 volts in the plug or at the motor?

If it was the thermofuse, then it should not work when powered up by the plug, but it would work when powered up at the motor itself.
