My Air Box
I love this set-up. I feel noticeable gains especially in the high rpm's.

very nice, did you come up with the design yourself?
i need to do something like this |
nice job!
|
how ar you providing air to it. I don't see any provisions for the snorkle or ducting??
|
I think he should put on an air inlet headlight cover. That would complete the job and would look cool and functional.
|
I didnt design the box. I bought it off one of the forum members. I was planning on gettin the air inlet cover but then decided not to. But its still noticeable. I'm not sure how air gets in but all i can say is that the air is cool after a hard run.

i think it's more designed to keep hot air out
|
I have seen different designs of this and basically there are two goals in mind...keeping out hot air and getting in fresh cool air. The first goal looks met but the snorkel ends too short and has too many bends. Read some posts that say the snorkel off an s5 is better, just a 90 degree bend. Others without the original clutch type fan and shroud have to devise a better way of getting air in without a factory type snorkel.
Just noticed this is an s5 snorkel in his picture. |

i should have this one done in about a week or so.... |
Without some form of ducting it'll still suck hot air from the engine bay, coz there's nowhere else for it to come from. A heat shield like that (an airbox is different) is good, but a cold air duct will make it much better. :)
