My 5th and 6th port sleeve insert story

So I finally got around to working on my S5. Its my daily driver and the engine was rebuilt by Kilo Racing here in FL.

My plans were to do the exhaust first and then the intake, but I had a good couple of weeks at my new job so I thought I would start what I could start. I bought a new gasket set from Mazdatrix and the 5th and 6th port sleeve inserts from Pineapple Racing dot com.

I've done this build before with my friends 85 GSL-SE that he put an S5 intake on so I have a good idea about what to expect and what to do. So I started work taking apart my upper intake manifold. Every thing goes smoothly, I move on to the octopus. I didn't want to remove my secondary fuel rail but it is in the way if I want to clean the pipes out, which they needed badly. So at the beginning I, of course, had deactivated the fuel pump and relieved the pressure in the tank. When I removed the hoses from the fuel rail gasoline sprayed everywhere. FUN FUN. So I cleaned up and continued removing the intermediate manifold. This is where the fun really started.

So where ever you look in the FSM's and Hanes manuals they seem to have this idea that you can easily remove the lower intake manifold without removing the emissions BS box. This is not so. I will continue later. I have to get back to work.

Interesting. I'm about to put in some of those as well.

Thank god NC doesnt require emissions on cars before 96, cause non of the bullshit went back on. Really makes it easy when you dont have to worry about where a bunch of shit goes. If you are going to have things off, now is a good time to send the injectors out for cleaning.

i installed the atkins actuators not to long ago, and put all new intake gaskets in as well:) i noticed that my new actuators made my exhaust louder, curious to see if this will happen as well with the pinapple racing sleeve inserts
