My 10ae project (PICS)

Hey guys, I just thought I would let you guys in on my project. About a mounth or two ago I got a rolling shell 10ae with no glass, no interior, no engine+tranny, no rearend. I had a full mint red interior, I know the 10ae has the black leather interior, please dont bash me for putting in red interior. I had no other choice, plus Im glad I can get it to look like a car again. Also no badges, but I do have the vin and title, and its all clear. I cleaned the car up pretty good, as in engine bay and interior+glass. I have a motor thats going into it, with 25k reman from mazda. Im using a s5 hybird turbo, megan racing front mount intercooler, rtek 2.0 ecu, and a 12lbs flywheel. Im looking to hit a lil above 300whp. I also have all solid mounts all around the car, kyb struts, and new brake lines. I also have the crome fd wheels, even though I need wheel spacers and extended studs. I know this car is not 100% original 10ae, but I knew that if I didnt save it, it would have been a pop can somewhere in the US. I still need some parts, and I also have some for sale or even trade. This is not a wtb, or wtt thread, Im just letting you guys know I might need some parts. I thought this section would work out fine for me. Things I need later on down the road-

2 720cc injectors
12lbs or lighter flywheel
A good clutch street/race

Well enjoy the pics!!

Damn that thing is rough... Hopefully you can get it ironed out... I would have personally waited on the interior, and found a black one... But it's your car... ;)

NCross 08-14-06 08:12 PM

Why not keep the inside bare?

tinvestor 08-14-06 09:15 PM

do you have the VIN plate from under the hood it seems to be missing? Did it come with tail lights.

lupin 08-14-06 09:31 PM

hmm I thought that 10 ae's had white on the tails instead of black?
maybe those are just 10ae fenders?

otherwise it will still be a really cool project goodluck with it
and post more pics!

more likely, it doesn't have the 10AE taillights anymore?

that project looks like a lot of work it'll pay off in the end so it's worth it..

save the 10AE's any way you can!

Not bashing, i just think red interiors (in ANY car) are horrendous. The blue interiors (what i have) are a very very small step above. Very small.

lol i completly agree. i had red in my 86... wow.. it was so bad it leaves me speechless. then got my 90, with black leather SOOO much better, and SOOO much hotter when its in the sun :pow:

gxl87turbo 08-15-06 02:49 AM

I have the vin plate thats goes in the engine bay, I took it out because I didnt know if I was going to paint the engine bay or not. Yes, it is a 10ae. There were no tail lights on it when i got it, it was just a shell...

calrx7 08-15-06 03:47 AM

wait.. are u tryin to make ur car into a 10th ae or something else?

It "was" a 10AE, it was just stripped of pretty much everything that made it so. Personally, I wouldn't consider it one anymore.

I think the Chassis makes a 10AE a 10AE, i mean , if all the parts off that 10AE were put on a 86 base model, it's still a 86 base model.

Exactly the vin don't lie... As long as he puts it back together as a 10AE then it will remain as such...

Is the chassis different? What makes a 10AE so special? Well.. nothing in my opinion, but in others, the parts around the chassis.

*shrug*

Just my opinion.

13b4me 08-15-06 10:08 AM

Well the vin says it's a 10AE.... The burgandy interior is killing it for sure... I would put it back together with a black interior and all 10AE parts, because 10AE or not, it'll never bring a decent price with bodywork and a red interior... BUT it's still a 10AE if he does it right...

Ok, I'll agree to that. :)

theres the vin for the people who dont believe me..

Fitness Stain 08-15-06 01:08 PM

i would have dyed the interior black ..

theres a couple threads on here with peoples results with pics ... turned out really well ....

its alot cheaper than piecing together another black interior
