Mounting radiator horizontally?

I see a lot of ic getting mounted horizontally, how about a radiator? I could mount it horizontally along the hood line and vent the hood (cut out the exact rad dimension) ?
That should help bring my temps down? Is it a dumb idea?

Air is a fluid and just like water, flows most efficiently in a straight line.
Ideally, you want your heat exchanger to directly face the airflow, your proposed horizontal rad would force the incoming air to make a 90° turn before hitting the core.

The horizontal layout is also not very space efficient given the constraints of the FC bay.

Thanks.

little bit... vmount ICs are one thing, but think about it... if this worked dont you think someone would have done it a long time ago?
people go vmount to make sure the rad gets all the air it can, as well as the IC getting it too. with the rad coming first. engine temps come before intake temps. overheating=no good

A horizontally mounted intercooler in a vmount setup should have proper duct work to direct airflow. If they haven't any, then airflow through the cores will be less.

I would suggest a nice aftermarket radiator, and drop the oil cooler downwards by moving it on the bracket (free!) or get side mount oil coolers. Both would yield fresh flow. Ductwork and sealing would help. But normal orientation should be fine.
